Matt Lauer.....

I wonder if there are any video clips in which Matt offers condemnation of others. Those would be comical right about now.

Yep and apparently he wasn’t asked to compete but did so anyway. Sounds like there will be much more coming out, he’s one helluva guy.

Obviously they fired him...but has he made any statement? Did he acknowledge the act or has he denied the accusation?

“While it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over 20 years he’s been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident,” Mr. Lack said.

Without knowing details this is sketchy AF.

Not a Lauer fan but the guy was the host of a highly rated show since 1997 and he’s gone over an allegation?

This stuff is getting crazy.

I wonder if this serves as an excuse to fire him and his enormous contract ($28m/yr). He's rumored to be hard to work with based on the feuding between him and Megan Kelley during their tenure doing morning shows. That's why I had asked if he had made any statements of acknowledgement or denial.

Sounds like a lot more than an allegation. The woman and her lawyer apparently have compelling evidence not only about her assault but others.

Most likely texts and pictures. Apparently Lauer was very good at threatening and intimidating the women he assaulted.

Do you hold the same opinion about Bill O’Reilly?

Thanks in advance?

Have you seen me defending Bill O'Reilly? From what I understand he has paid out huge sums of money which to me is implied guilt.

You may pay modest amounts of money to avoid the hassle and get it over with even if you didn't do anything but when you are willing to pay millions to make it go away you know you have a legit problem.

Do I trust media to treat conservatives fairly when accusations like this are made, no, but I'm also not so naive to believe bad behavior is only limited to a specific ideology.

I certainly haven’t seen you condemning him like you are Lauer in this thread and others in other threads. Thanks for clarifying and answering my question.

Follow up, you don’t trust “media” to treat conservatives fairly when accusations like this are made? Do you have the same level of skepticism when the accused is a liberal?

Repeating exactly what the NYT is reporting is condemning? WTF?

I think all these accusations should have some level of skepticism but tend to believe them when the persons employer immediately fires them and they don't deny the charges.

If Lauer or Rose start denying these accusations then I'll try and take a more critical look at them.

You can't tell me you aren't more willing to give Lauer the benefit of the doubt over someone like O'Reilly.

My first round draft pick.

My first round pick would be Harry Reid, although you could probably be safe with just about any male Senator over 40.

I absolutely CAN tell you I am no more willing to give Lauer the benefit of the doubt over someone like O’Reilly.....because I’m not.

Nor am I more willing to give the benefit of the doubt to someone like Franken than I am someone like Trump or Moore.

And my posts bear that out.

NYT reported exactly this?

Interesting. Doubtful, but interesting.

You were strangely silent when the O’Reilly stuff came out, I asked you about it, you responded...it’s all good in the Hood, man.

My 1st rounder is:

Not fair at all. We have to establish draft rules first. I know I'll get the leftovers since I'm a sooner, but there will be plenty of all-star picks left, so I'm ok with that discrimination.

No fair drafting an established pro. This is an amateur draft.
No points for already known accusations though. Unless there are new accusers waiting to come out it would be like drafting John Elway on your fantasy football team this season.

From what I have heard is that the allegation is that he raped someone in Rio during the Olympics, not just made unwanted advances or sent a JD-pic (jk) or anything.

NBC's firing is more about optics and trying to get out ahead of a situation that apparently is about to get worse with more allegations. Now this is from YEARS ago when I was still in school and other classmates did internships up in NY for the major networks (I stuck with my man Bill Teegins and can say that he never did a thing wrong and always bought my dinner), the stories they came back with about the environment up there and behavior of some of the talent, Matt Lauer, included was highly questionable. Now there were no stories of rape but more along the lines if you were attractive young lady then there were expectations by many of the male talent. It's easy picking.

You are always going to have people that love the guy or others like him because they aren't a threat to their survival and help pay your bills. Lauer has always been known as a ladies man and anyone at NBC would say off the record and now on the record that there was no one more powerful than Lauer at NBC. I would be shocked if more allegations don't start coming out.

I think his silence if deafening that he knows his goose is cooked.

As the co-host of NBC’s “Today,” Matt Lauer once gave a colleague a sex toy as a present. It included an explicit note about how he wanted to use it on her, which left her mortified.

On another day, he summoned a different female employee to his office, and then dropped his pants, showing her his penis. After the employee declined to do anything, visibly shaken, he reprimanded her for not engaging in a sexual act.

He would sometimes quiz female producers about who they’d slept with, offering to trade names. And he loved to engage in a crass quiz game with men and women in the office: “****, marry or kill,” in which he would identify the female co-hosts that he’d most like to sleep with.

These accounts of Lauer’s behavior at NBC are the result of a two-month investigation by Variety, with dozens of interviews with current and former staffers. Variety has talked to three women who identified themselves as victims of sexual harassment by Lauer, and their stories have been corroborated by friends or colleagues that they told at the time. They have asked for now to remain unnamed, fearing professional repercussions.

On Wednesday, NBC announced that Lauer was fired from “Today.” It was a stunning move for a co-host who was widely considered the crown jewel of the network’s news division, with a $25 million annual salary. The cause of his dismissal, according to sources, was a detailed complaint from another current NBC employee about inappropriate sexual conduct from Lauer that started on a trip at the Sochi Olympics in 2014 and continued for several months.

The employee met with human resources at NBC on Monday night. In a statement, NBC News Chairman Andy Lack called this the first complaint about his behavior in over 20 years and acknowledged that it may not be the last: “We were also presented with reason to believe that this may not have been an isolated incident,” Lack said.

Several women told Variety they complained to executives at the network about Lauer’s behavior, which fell on deaf ears given the lucrative advertising surrounding “Today.” NBC declined to comment. For most of Lauer’s tenure at “Today,” the morning news show was No. 1 in the ratings, and executives were eager to keep him happy.

Back in high school, a friend of mine told me he'd been hooking up with his teacher. One day he asked me to join him. Being a horny teenager of course I said yes. After we did the nasty with his teacher, we left to go get some chow. I asked him what school he attended. He told me he was home schooled.

Provided for Jimmy Bob and D2.

Do the people who knew and didn't do anything have any culpability?

Just watch another show...or wait six months and he’ll get a new gig on another network.
