March For Our Lives: “A Well-Regulated Militia”.....?

Why don't you talk about treating classmates with respect and not bullying them into violence and suicide? No, it's just those damn guns..

I'm really kind of surprised the pro-gun crowd are jumping onto this 'bullying' counter argument. Really looks like desperation to me. It's almost as if people think bullying is exclusively an American phenomenon that somehow doesn't exist in other (gun free) cultures.

Don't think it's exclusive, but it is part of the problem. along with the other things others and myself have mentioned in this thread. Like I said earlier, if he had ran over 20 kids with a car, the car wouldn't be in the conversation. The killer would be and why did he do it?

Desperation? You mean using kids to fight your battle for you?

How many times, in the last 5 years, has someone used a car as a weapon to commit mass murder in this country? How many times has someone used a gun?

How many innocent people have been killed by a vehicle, used as a weapon, in the last 5 years? How many innocent people have been killed by guns, in mass shootings, over the last 5 years?

One is clearly the weapon of choice for these individuals. It also tends to be much more efficient at killing large numbers of people quickly.

I noticed you didn't comment in the thread about how a school shooter was stopped by an armed guard. Why not?

Just like the answer to speech you don't like (hate speech) is more speech - not less (censorship).
The answer to gun violence isn't less guns (restrictions / gun free zones) - but more guns (to stop the bad guy).

Good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns.

IMO, there is no reason an 18 year old needs to buy an assault rifle. You and I have had this discussion before.

I am also not opposed to airline marshals being armed on aircraft. Nor am I opposed to armed officers being assigned to schools.

Nor am I opposed to improvements to background checks, or better access to mental health care.

Just because I think it is too easy for an aspiring mass shooter to get a gun does not mean that I am devoid of common sense and can't see the value of armed police officers in schools. It is not an either/or situation like you are trying to make it out to be.

Changes to gun laws does not mean that someone is coming to take away the guns you already own. There are ways to get to a middle ground where we can make it more difficult for kids like Cruz to get their hands on such an efficient killing machine without infringing on your (you specifically) 2nd amendment rights.

I don't know, you tell me. Really wasn't my point. There's been quite a few incidents with cars plowing into crowds. Car or gun, it's an unstable person committing the act, but don't to go there if a gun was used.
I'm pretty sure a car can do more damage in a different situation, but it's not a school.

What if he had walked in with 2 handguns, multiple clips and had the same results but different weapon?

You can't say for certain he wouldn't have done something different had he not been able to access a gun.

What if he had waited until school was out and plowed over a group of 50 plus kids in a vehicle? That is actually a lot harder to stop than a shooting. Shit cops and FBI had plenty of opportunity to stop this before it even started...but nah, guns.

What if this
What if that

We can play this game all day

There are a lot of things that can be done to make schools safer. All of them should be considered. Including legitimate consideration to some changes to gun laws.

Because two people died and a third was shot. This is what counts as a victory? "HEY, ONLY TWO PEOPLE GOT KILLED!"

Edit: So apparently the kid did exactly what he wanted? He intended to shoot the one girl and then kill himself? Mission accomplished, and the NRA is taking a victory lap?

And what new gun law you and like minded people are advocating for would of prevented this? Real question.
