Making America Great Again By Imposing Tariffs

Will not create the desired results.

Irrefutable evidence the use of tariffs did exactly as it was intended in this situation. For some reason you refuse to acknowledge what is right in front of your face.
Does this mean every time tariffs are used they work as intended? Absolutely not but what it proves beyond question is there is a time and a place for thier use.

Here is another recent positive development on Trump's use of tariffs I'm sure you haven't heard.

I appreciate the admission. I have said several times authoritarian political policies work until they don’t work. So let me give you a homework assignment: please names the times Trump’s tariffs didn’t work. Please explain in economic term *why* they didn’t work. And please show us your personal critical responses on this board against those particular Trump tariffs. Can you do that?

Dan’s hearing and vision are obstructed by the inner walls of his rectum, and thus he has a terribly distorted view of reality.

Thank you for your reply. The primary reason Trump gave for imposing tariffs during his first term centered on the trade deficit, citing the trade deficit as proof the rest of the world was taking advantage of the US, and promising his tariffs would quickly eliminate the problem. Can you explain in economic terms why the trade deficit soared to new highs in the aftermath of the imposition of the tariffs? Is the deficit going up rather than down as promised an example of Trump’s tariffs working as intended? And if your is “no” can you explain in economic terms why? And if your answer is “no” can you point to the place on this board where you criticized the unintended consequences of the tariffs, especially in light of the fact virtually every economist of merit told us what happened was going to happen?

Do your own homework Dan. For some reason you refuse to accept a simple common sense premise, nothing is prefect and nothing works 100% of the time.

Where have you come up with the idea I don't accept that Trump scored a victory over Colombia with his tariff threat? I have said repeatedly he successfully bullied Colombia into submission. That doesn't alter the economic reality that tariffs - the actual imposition of tariffs, not the threat used by a bully - generally result in very different outcomes from the desired result. I accept your admission that you can't think of a single time one of Trump's tariffs didn't work, and wouldn't admit it if you did.
