Listened to local conservative talk radio yesterday. That bill may be the end of Trump. Not a single caller was happy with him. Was called a liar, chump and many other things.

Apparently, the art of the deal is to let the other side bend you over. McConnell isn’t a conservative, either. But we’ve known that for a long time.
Trump got railroaded in my opinion. The guy is not a fascist or dictator so he plays by the rules the constitution provides. If he continues to fight and makes any meaningful headway on ridiculous spending in the next two years this will be forgotten. Congress is the enemy here, what was trump supposed to do? Congress was gone for two weeks after the vote.

What I would expect from somebody who is the alleged champion of the “drain the swamp” movement would be to veto something that is over 2,000 pages long that he receives at the last minute.
Then I would expect him to announce that he could not, in good conscience, sign something that was impossible for him to read in such a short amount of time.
Next, he should have explained that if Congress was interested in doing their job, especially the senate, they would revise the Senate filibuster rule and give him something that he wouldn’t have to apologize for signing.
Finally, he should have said that If Congress felt that their vacation was more important than doing their job, then go ahead and leave town, offering to remain in Washington himself to review and possibly sign bills as they were passed (assuming congress decided to stick around and resolve the crisis).
I agree that most of Congress deserves a firing squad, but that doesn’t mean you need to join them in their quest to screw us.
