I do. This terrorist attack will put her over the top.

One of the favorites may have shot himself in the foot with his statement on terrorism. This doesn't seem like a smart thing to say.

It is dumb from a political consumption standpoint, because people want false reassurances from their leaders.
But it's almost certainly not factually wrong, the islamic terrorist faction has left the barn in France, and there's no rounding him back up and putting him back in any time soon. If they get smart and elect someone with common sense like Le Pen, she'll push for the societal reforms that could eventually get the problem more under control.
It would devastating for France if she wins, I don't think she will. She most likely will be in a run off but hopefully in the end she will get beat

Can you support "devastating" for France with a few reasonable hypotheses?
Having lived in Europe for more than a decade I have witnessed directly how her party The National Front operates, have seen many rallies, marches and speeches and although she says she has deradicalized the party it's hard to believe listening to some of her statements. The National Front is the closest thing to the National Socialist that is allowed. Many of their members are the skin heads and NEO Nazis , they are extreme right wing.
The fact that so many French gays are supporting Le Pen (at a higher rate than straight voters) shows that words like "far right" and "extreme right" have become completely meaningless.
(Except to media manipulators engaging in identity politics)
Gays know more than anyone about "Islamic tolerance" in the European country with the largest Muslim population:

Does it never strike anyone on the left that their position and dramatization of pointless social differences is such a put off to people they run to the arms of the despicable right? Does it ever occur to the anti Christian Left, that their pro Muslim apologist position defies logic to people in the middle and they would rather be in the same voting bloc as David duke and French skin heads? Does it ever cross their mind that their stupidity and extremism is so bad that a majority of people would like to go over the cliff with Donald trump, brexit, le pen? Geert Wilders growing in popularity every year. It's not that the world is turning into racist sexist zombies, it's that the left sucks on so many levels that we are willing to risk all of this unknown.

Am I the only one who finds it strange that we use Far right and Socialist in the same description? Isn't the Socialist agenda generally considered left?
My next door neighbor in England was a member of the National Front, I didn't know it for two years, really nice guy great family, he asked me one day if I wanted to go with him to an "event" I asked what kind and he took me into his garage and it was full of Nazi flags and stuff. He told me his views which were very extreme to say the least. I told him that I did not hold those same views and even if I did I was not allowed to attend something like that ( I was in the USAF) he understood and he promptly said well " you guys want to do dinner Friday, Tracy cooking Indian?" Never mentioned it sgain. Crazy stuff

There is a lot of debate whether the Nazis were extreme right or left , they had extreme views both ways. But the National Front is considered extreme right wing
No kidding. Le Pen is in favor of more government subsidies and handouts in France. I didn't know that was even possible there.

You chose to abstain and he politely moved on. The left, if you disagree with their position, are likely to riot. At a minimum, you are blacklisted (look at Hollywood) and shamed for not complying with group-think.

Fascism and Communism are the historical enemies. You can be a fascist nation and have pervasive Socialism like the Nazis did.
