If you have a different opinion, you get absolutely obliterated. Watch this reaction. Thought police are coming strong on this one...

RE: the tweets that were 'so hurtful' and 'made him mad'

Is Kanye the typical, everyday black person who faces everyday bias and racism? Nope...so these arguments he’s latching onto make absolutely zero sense.

In other words: "GET BACK ON THE PLANTATION BOY!"

toon has no idea he’s a racist. anyone criticizing a black man for not knowing how to be a “typical black” should get called out.

if Kanye was cussing trump, toon would say he’s an important civil rights leader with his finger on the pulse of the black Experience

New album dropping in June
People who have heard it say it reminds them of the socially conscious Yeezy
I bet he or his publicity peeps are up to something.

You guys are are excited for nothing.

Regardless of any self promotion; I'll give him credit when he's right as much as I'll damn him when he's wrong.

What I'm excited about is @CSCOTTOSUPOKES telling us what a 'typical' black is. I mean if he knows that Kanye isn't a 'typical' black, then he obviously knows what a 'typical' one is.

He is very mercurial by nature....remember “George Bush don’t care about black people” on the 9/11 benefit show?

I don’t know if this is marketing (doesn’t feel like it to me) or the latest example of “woke” Kanye, but I would bet his focus of all this wokeness changes again in the foreseeable future if history is any indication.

Probably. But I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't give him credit for when I thought he was correct but only cursed him when I thought he was wrong. Balance is key.

Thats an uncharitable if not downright dishonest reading of Toon.

Kanye undermines much of your bloviating on privilege. True @Medic007 ?

Of course you'll rally in Toon's defense of keeping black people locked in a mental prison.

I don't bloviate on privilege.

Of course I defend Toon from someone misreading his statements.

What he said was the quite racist actually. He paints an individual with certain characteristics based on his race. Isn't that what we are told being racist is? Relying on stereotypes to describe an individual?

That's why I really want to know how he defines a 'typical' black person. I bet he avoids the topic all together.

Break it down specifically for me. What individual did he paint, and with what certain characteristics based on race? What stereotypes did he rely on to describe which individual?

I can tell you that a typical black person is not a Grammy winning rapper.

He is a black man who can reach millions. Why must his accomplishments in music and life nullify his ability to speak as a person? Has he ALWAYS been a Grammy winning artist? Does his message mean less when it isn't for the Dems agenda?

No irony, I am not speaking for or against what he is saying. That was more in-reference to what toon was attempting to say.
I'm going to risk my mental health and try to interpret what Clinton was attempting to communicate:

"Kanye's experiences are so different from other black people's experiences that his perspective can't be used to disconfirm what other black people are saying"

I happen to disagree in this case because I think Kanye is extremely sincere and in tune with the experiences of other black people. But, to say that Clinton was criticizing Kanye for not being a typical black person is a misreading.

I think the endgame here is Kanye saying some truly outrageous shit on Hannity. I can't decide if it will be before or after his album drops though.

What was Kanye's upbringing? I promise it wasn't a Grammy winning, millionaire artist. His post, at best, was shortsighted.

Wrong and racist are completely different things.

Besides lost in these trees of race is the forest: One person's experiences can't disconfirm someone else's. This is true with rapper's and race, people who hate cilantro, nonfamous people and paparazzi.

I get that.

That was more a cautionary statement to NZ putting all his eggs in the Kanye basket...not that he’ll heed it or anything.

Kanye is an interesting dude, no doubt.

Not interested in wading into the what did Toon mean when he said debate, but since you asked about Kanye.

Father: a former Black Panther, one of the first black photojournalists for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Later became a Christian counselor.

Mom: English Professor at Clark Atlanta. Chair of the English Department at Chicago State University.

Moved to China at 10 when his mother entered a University exchange program between Chicago State and Nanjig University. Scholarship to American Academy of Art. Transferred to Chicago State University to study English. Dropped out to pursue his music goals.

Like I said, a pretty interesting dude. I wouldn’t say his upbringing was typical of anything...pretty unique all around.

why does he need you to interpret his intentions?

Nowhere ITT have I called anyone racist. I just interpreted the post as wrong and shortsighted.

I get your point though, but don't think his went that deep.

Regardless of upbringing, current status, current wealth or perceived station in life......ANY TIME someone questions a person of color's motives, simply because they don't fall in line with the "NAACP lobby/Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton cult", that someone needs to be highly questioned regarding THEIR motives. That is what Toon did here, regardless!!!!!
