i have never participated or been a part of a boycott before. But I now have zero future plans to buy anything Nike. In fact, I will look for other brands now.

Promoting Kaepernick is not something I can support.

I think those pigs as cops socks he wore with some new nikes would look cool on a new balance add.
Exactly. Many on the left put Kaepernick on this fake pedestal and announcing that he is standing up for what is right. But hopefully many will remember the socks, the offensive shirts, his girlfriend defending 9/11 terrorists, being a horrible role model, etc.

Like old white guys are gonna give these babies up! BBQs just won’t be the same.

Was just going to post the same thing. Bought my first Nikes in the 80s. Have bought them ever since.

No more.

I don't understand why entertainers/atheletes and public companies want to involve themselves publicly with politics. If I was in their situation I'd be Switzerland.

Principles over paper $$$?

Principles over paper $$$?
If principles is wearing clothing depicting our brave first responders as pigs or clothing praising a murderer or donating money to a cop killer or dating a 911 sympathizer then those are principles I will never follow.

He didn’t choose principles over money. He wanted starter money and rejected offers for backup money. In the whole shape of athletics he is a great athlete. Howver in the world of NFL level QBs, he was below average and was benched to make way for the incredible talent of Blaine Gabbert.

Not seeing where his girlfriend is 9/11 sympathizer. Link? All I can find is her saying she wasn’t surprised, comparing her time she spent in Saudi Arabia.

I don’t want to deflect from the other true criticisms of Kaepernick and with a quick cursory search I can’t find the quote. So I will retract. It was something she said on her LA radio show, but I can’t remember exact quote.
She did compare an NFL owner to a slave owner. Probably another reason Kaepernick doesn’t have an NFL job.

Headhunter posted a question in general.

I posted a response in general as well.

Our discussion was a general one not one about CK in particular.

As a share holder I want a company who has principles but is not political. Are you saying that only people on one side of an political issue have principles? I reject that thinking.

Why do you ask dumb straw an questions like this?

Nothing in my posts hinted at anything like this.

You asked why entertainers/athletes and public companies would get involved in politics.

I answered maybe they are more interested in advocating for their personal beliefs than wringing every dollar they can out of their business.

I never suggested only one side of ANYTHING have principles.

I hope he’s donating all of his money...or is he ok with capitalism when his check is big?

Great, if you're living in la-la-land, but in the real world....every company is political in today's environment.
Lobby for the interest of your company dont go political.

You promote conservative issues you piss off libs. You promote liberal issues ypu piss off conservatives. That's not what you are in business to do.

In today’s boycott happy and manufactured outrage society (on all sides) we are in, just about any business decision can be turned into a political issue by one side or the other.

Furthermore, large businesses really do need to be engaged in the political arena because politics affect how they do business. They donate and work for issues that they believe will help their business flourish.

You sure get your little feelings bruised easy. You are the one who gave the simpliton 4 word explanation for corporate activism.

My feelings aren’t bruised at all.

I’m just pointing out your stupid strawman hack job.

For you guys who are all about 'buy American', it sure is odd you don't support an American company like Nike that probably has at least what 20, 25 employees in America?

"I am done watching the NFL until these rich pampered athletes stop taking a knee"

I really have to give it up to you guys for not watching OSU sports this year. No one can call you a hypocrite for sticking with your principles and boycotting nike schools for supporting the kneelers.

Seriously, mad respect.

Bold move, aligning yourself with the president of Iran.

We each get to make our own decisions. I’m not telling you what to do. Phil Knight gets to do what he wants. I get to do what I want. You get to do what you want. Everybody is happy. See how that works?

Your team philosophy, on the other hand, is the opposite. Health insurance “reform” would be a good example. Forced participation. See the difference?

That is a great point. Not watching the school you paid tens of thousands of dollars to and committed thousands of hours to and graduated from is the exact same thing as not watching the nfl. Please bring more great points as fast as you can. Not sure I can make it until lunch without an encore.
