They have to hold off on charges until one of the other investigations (such as Georgia's) file charges. Filing an indictment that doesn't hold up will hurt the other cases.
Trump wrong as usual. Why do you think he made those "imminent arrest" statements? Was fund raising lagging that much? Lol.
But was Trump wrong at the time? This looks a lot more like Bragg got cold feet once the press started talking it up moreso than Trump made this up from thin air. Then again, maybe the logistical discussions with the NYPD were an example of the 4-D chess that Bragg is playing.
Well duh. Taking what is at best a misdemeanor crime and Trumping it up to felony charges by linking it to supposed federal campaign violations that neither the FTC nor DoJ wanted to touch makes for a pretty weak case.
Nah. Subpeonas were out at the time Trump made his announcement that would clearly extend the date beyond the one Trump referenced. Even Trump had to know that. The logistical discussions were maybe a smoke screen/tactic but then again it could be the various LEO just wanted to have more lead time than a couple of days. It is laughable to me that the ongoing investigation is seen as a positive or negative indicator of any kind. It is what it is, a protracted investigation.
Slight difference. In his case, at least the jurisdiction was right. It was the DOJ filing charges for federal campaign finance violations, for which Edwards was still exonerated. In Bragg's case, the secondary crime that elevates the misdemeanor to a felony isn't even one that he can prosecute as its a federal statute, and the feds turned down that bite at the apple. So its an even further stretch than Edward's case which failed to get a conviction.
Funny you leave out the 5 dropped charges to go along with it. That's exonerated.
