Joker [October 4]

I'm definitely not a comic book movie guy but this looks interest. Just weird enough to have potential while beckoning back to my childhood. Probably worth $10 and three hours of my life at some point.

Hollywood so full of fresh ideas. If it wasn’t for comic books propping up the film industry they would be in serious trouble.
To be fair, most great films are based off of a book or an already existing literary arc.

The difference here is a generally untapped resource because tech has finally made doing these work aesthetically. And, over time, they become cheaper/faster to make as FX improve.

I’m fine with it. They are some of the finest stories ever told. And, we haven’t touched some of the amazing shit happening at Image comics.

Saw it. Very dark movie. Very well made. As AC said totally character and plot driven. Not a comic book / super hero / special effects movie at all and so will seem out of place to many. More of an art house movie. I do think all the hubalou and concerns are way out of place. I think a lot of people are reading too much significance into it.

Probably not going to do that great at the box office has more cult classic potential. Phoenix will definitely get a best actor nomination. Not sure how the movie is going to be viewed.

if there was ever a role for Phoenix this is one of them...I guess I'll go see it but weird usually scares the $hit out of me. Hope it ends well.

The acting was good, but overall the character just wasn't particularly interesting to me. Sometimes the villain will have a weird likeability about them, but none of that here. It was pretty gritty and realistic, but kinda boring without the more cartoonish elements. Maybe that was the vision? I didn't read anything about it going in.
