I was very worried about this hire, but I think he is the perfect person for this conference. It really makes me think "what if" he was here before OU-Texas said they were leaving for the SEC. Could we have kept them and expanded? Would the Big12 board let him have as much freedom to make deals/moves then as they do now? I personally think that everyone in the Big12 (other than UT/OU) really were short sighted about CFB and where it was headed with TV money and "super conferences". I honestly doubt that they would have let him make similar moves that he's making now with out him having to fight tooth and nail.
One thing from the interview is Klatt asked him if the presidents were nervous about how fast he's moving, and he said that one board member asked him if they were moving fast enough. That should tell you that the board/presidents are really taking this seriously now, and want to make sure that we're set before another conference takes that #3 spot. Brett said that he thinks we're moving at the right speed FYI.
