I agree with both of these statements.

I just don't want us to get to the point where all Team #1 has to do to take out the candidate for Team #2 is to trot out some accusers. I know that it has been this way for 100+ years, but I really don't want to call him guilty until that has been proven.

Team #2 in this case is probably another Republican that wants to be speaker. If team #2 was the Dems they would wait for Jordan to be in leadership to trot out the accusers so as to smear the whole party.

Hard to say in a national election swung by 80,000 votes.
There was a lot of time spent on "lock her up" chants for such a meaningless issue.

By those that had already made a decision and used it to further justify said decision
