My original statement was probably unduly provocative in its characterization.
Paine was primarily a journalist and not a fighter, a journalist that certainly supported others than destroyed public and private property and attacked loyalists though.

Donald trump has done nothing fascist. He has done nothing to indicate he wants a monarchy. He has simply tried to enforce federal law and review the vetting process of Muslims who pose a great threat to all global societies. Bumbling? Foolish? Narcicistic? Ok maybe, but not Hitler. Not Stalin. Not king George.
Violence should be met with more violence. In my review of the situation I have no problem with the broken bodies of those who wish to oppress free speech. In paines time it was the government oppressing it. Now it's the left who lost a legal election.

IMO, the appropriate response to blocking streets, destroying property, other illegal acts is effecting constitutional and legal arrests and prosecutions. The constitutional and legal standard use of force for doing so is that which is necessary to effect the arrest....not wrecking their sh** because you think they deserve it.
