Jeff Flake....

Is easily manipulated by people that get to him in an elevator with a "good" story.

I am beginning to think the real problem in the world today and especially the US is the fact that males today have 25% less testosterone than our fathers and 50% less than our grandfather's!

And by the way I am not taking about sexual assault maybe being overlooked in the past but rather how much easier makes are manipulated today vs. the past.

What the hell are you getting at?

Are you trying to claim because some men actully listen to and respect women today, they are now more easily manipulated?

No if you look at the entirety of society today men are a lot more touchy feely than they used to be. While sometimes this might be a good thing a lot of times it is not.

Flake was manipulated by some unknown woman playing in his emotions and not thinking things through. He had or has no idea if that woman was telling the truth or not.

This happens way too much in today's society.

I know woman that have been molested that feel exactly opposite of the lady in the elevator. Most of them feel that Dr. Ford is lying in some manner ... Probably more like she is being manipulated

Flake was manipulated by someone that made him feel bad in the moment. This is not the way to make any decision in an official capacity.

One last thing leaving civil rights out of it.. On a personal individual level a good case can be made that 50 years ago people treated each other better than they do today.

Flake should just “man up” and not listen to and consider whiny women folk.

Testosterone laden stoicism over emotions.

Bros before hoes.

Deer lowered, indeed.

Flake caved to peer pressure by the Dem senators. Thats where he showed his weakness. Of course they should all consider Dr Fords testimony as well as Judge Kavanaugh's.

But where he should "man up" is making up his own mind and not allow himself to be cornered by a bunch of other Senators whether they have an R or D next to their name. Senators are supposed to be making decisions in the best interest of our country, not R's, not D's, not women but all Americans. There is too much party first in all of our politics today.

How do you know he didn't make up his own mind based off of information available? You say there is too much "party first" all while being "party first." Flake, whether right or wrong, went against "party first" and made a tough call. I cannot say I disagree with that call, but it was a tough call either way. If someone touched on a certain concern that he had, so be it.

Did you watch it? He was sweating bullets. Looked like he was about to cry. It shouldn't be that difficult to go against your party. And the dems hot boxing him shouldn't have been an option. E should have been able to avoid that situation. I'm not against having the investigation.

This whole getting the votes counted beforehand is just bullshit. They are opening themselves to pressure from their own party, the other party, lobbyist, and every nutjob under the sun.

This is not about what happened to the lady in an elevator. I feel sorry for the lady that was yelling at him if she was telling the truth.

Again this is not about what happened to her. She should go find the person that did whatever to her and put that person in jail. It has absolutely nothing to do with the issue before Jeff flake and so he should have ignored her.

He can have offered her help in resolving her specific issue which would have been better for that lady.

We cannot start to persecute or prosecute someone to get even with something that might have happened to you or a bunch of folks where that person did not have anything to do with it. Or to put it another way do not make person B pay for something that person A did.

Jeff Flake's next career is the star of The Vagina Monologs.

You guys are all calling Flake a pussy because he crossed party lines. I'm sure you would be lauding a Dem Senator who announced that he/she was planning to vote thumbs up on Kav.

What this country needs is more Senators who are willing to reach across the aisle and work together to do what is best for this country. They need to be willing to compromise and cooperate.

Just think for a second.... Right now, the House and Senate are GOP majority. But, it is not always going to be that way. When one or both flip, you conservatives are going to be hoping that some Dems are willing to cross party lines. Are you going to be spouting off about what pussies you think those individuals are?

Flake is a GOP, but he is also an individual. Give him credit for doing what he felt was the right thing to do. It is a lot more difficult to do that than it is to blindly vote the same way as everyone else on your team.

You going to be ok if a Dem votes to nominate BK? If so, why all the fuss over BK by you and everyone else?

Honestly, I will be.

I don't want Kav to be confirmed for a few different reasons. But, I think each Senator has to decide if he or she thinks he is qualified for the position and vote accordingly. I can't get inside their heads. But, if a Dem crosses party lines, I will give him/her the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are doing so for the right reasons.

I haven't posted this on the board yet, but I am not even sure that he should be disqualified if Ford's story is accurate. If he had come forward and said that he drank a lot in HS and that he doesn't remember it happening, and that he was very sorry if it did, and that he has never done anything similar and yada yada yada, I would be more inclined to see him appointed. Sixteen year old boys do a lot of stupid shit. Extremely drunk 16 year old boys do stuff that is even worse. What he is accused of is awful, but I don't think it precludes him from being on the SCOTUS necessarily.

I have more of an issue with him playing the choirboy, and telling me that what he is going through is being orchestrated by the Clintons. As you posted in the other thread, if he is going to spend his time on the bench looking to get revenge on the Dems, that is a big problem.

retiring flake is their fall guy

why?

What makes you think the R's will do anything right with this? Flake is nothing in the grand scheme of things. What will matter is how (and this really goes for both sides) they handle themselves after the investigation. I have a good idea how the D's will respond (as I am sure there has been pre-planning going on), I am just not sure how the R's will respond. I have no doubt the slime will get thicker on both ends.

how does this play into R hands?
I am really not sure what you are trying to ask. I do not think this falls into the hands of either side. It is a total lose-lose. The D's look openly sleazy by parading all of this around in a clear attempt to block Trump from appointing another SC judge. The R's look bad in how they have reacted to not just Ford's co plaint, but sexual assault victims in general. They also look disorganized and weak in how they are handling this. Neither side looks good, so it is a matter of whixh side comes out looking worse.

No we are calling him that because he had just released a letter stating he was voting yes. If you are still unsure don’t release the damn letter.

While we do need more Senators that are willing to reach across the aisle and work together we also need Senator that understand the values in this country. Chris Coons, the Senator that supposedly is butt buddies with Flake says the burden of proof is on the person accused. That in itself goes against everything this country stands for, not to mention the impossibility of proving a person didn't do something that happened over 35 years ago.
I also find is hilarious that those that obviously lean to the left mention the need for Senators to work together, when it's obvious through actions and previous posts, what is meant is for Republicans to bow down to Democrats.
The entire reason for having the hearing was to determine the credibility of both Ford and Kavanaugh, what it turned into was Democrats demanding the FBI perform unlimited, unending investigations in order to delay a vote confirming Kavanaugh to the court. Regardless of what the FBI comes back with Democrats will not change their mind or their tactics and will continue to oppose Kavanaugh's appointment to the court.
Flake is just playing politics to see if this could jump start a Presidential run for himself.

with midterms looming

how do R’s

improve this optic?

No idea. They can go "all-in" and prove Ford a liar (thus proving the D's have been unethical in this ordeal), or make a clear statement against sexual assault in some palpable manner (not saying they have to nix BK's confirmation).

That one is a head scratcher, until you consider the left doesn't stand for anything but power.

No where did I say he's a pussy for crossing the aisle. He's a pussy for caving in to peer pressure from the Dems.

Maybe reread my whole post.

Do you think the Dems really think it is possible to prevent Trump from appointing another SC judge?

I think this is primarily revenge for Garland, and that they are hopeful that he will settle on someone more moderate.

Surely they know that they can’t play these games for two more years.

I read it.

The Dems are not his peers. The Republicans are. If we was spineless, he would have just toed the party line.

You clearly underestimate the Democrats.
