Wife works for a large national financial company. They just announced they are will be offering early retirement for those interested. If they do not get at least 5% of the employees to retire early they will begin layoffs. I've seen this twice before and in both instances what followed was not a good for the employment picture.
 
it seems finance companies would be the first to suffer due to the increase in interest rates. I think there have been a lot of companies, not the elite ones, but smaller, have been making changes in employment for over a year. Even the tech companies.

When looking at the economy big financial companies are like a canary in a coal mine.
