Is this the make a gay wedding cake saga?

It's an interesting argument. Can't refuse to sell a product but can't be forced into labor.

Its a good argument imo, although it will open other cans of worms potentially. How would this apply to a number of standard 'service' industries. Could a dry cleaner then refuse service to someone? Could a photographer (Mega) refuse to do photo shoots?

I've thought a lot about it and it's one of those issues I don't have strong convictions for either way. My mind is open to being changed, a novel concept in this political climate (it's already changed once).

What I don't see mentioned in that legalese is property rights. Who the hell is the government to say what you can or cannot do with your property based on your own religious convictions? When are gay rights activists going to demand muslim bakeries bake them cakes? Or cook them up some nice pork chops?

My understanding is homosexuals are a protected class, the same as other minority groups, racial or otherwise. I get the legal argument. My libertarian streak simply disagrees with it.

One of my businesses is a pest control company. I don't crawl under people's homes (crawl space) any more although it's a great place to find critters. Could the government force me to do so if I refused to do that?

I read where this particular couple went to 12 different bakeries to find one that would not make their cake for them. They were looking to have an excuse to take someone to court.

No. But if you did normally go into crawl spaces, but explicitly chose not to do so at a Mosque (for example), would that be allowed?

This is where my free-market principles (calling Ponca Dan - lol) fall. I don't understand the desire of an individual to do business with a company that doesn't WANT your business, when there are plenty of others who do (or if not, then congrats, you just found your million dollar idea).

It's more about finding a whipping boy for the (name it) agenda than doing business.

Real story...about 25 years ago, I asked a Muslim apartment dweller to remove the stuff in his cabinets so I could kill the roaches and he refused. I told him it didn't bother me if he wanted to live with the f'kers and walked out. I'd likely be keel hauled today if I did that.

This is where I’m at as well. To be honest, I think restaurants should be able to put “whites only” or “blacks only” in the window. I’d rather discrimination be open and transparent. The free market in 2018 will take care of itself.

Yup. Reminds me of the Massachusetts car dealership who verbally berated the pizza delivery guy. The video went viral and within a few weeks the dealership had thousands of horrible reviews on every conceivable website and their business completely tanked and they went out of business shortly afterwards.

This is all driven by self-hating, closet bakers.
I really wanted to laugh at this one, but you under-delivered bigly. Disappointing. Quite a few good plays still sitting out there, hanging low like Clintard's IQ.

Way back in the last century, the sign hanging in all the restaurants was: We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone - which was obviously race related.
