Is Criticizing The Israeli Government Anti-Semitic?

Fair enough. Do you think the men below would have agreed or disagreed with you?

They some pretty strong opinions on foreign entanglements — especially the guy on the top-left.

Considering we were spooning with the French every chance we got to bend over the English at the time:they'd agree with me 100%.

Some were flirting with the French, but Washington was not. Perhaps you should reread his Farewell Address. In a way I regret that NZ got involved in this conversation, because I fear his well known contempt for all thing Jewish will splash onto how I am perceived. As hard as it is for me to say this, in this conversation I think he is closer to the truth than you want to admit.

First, no one is going to contribute NZ's post as your own. We're all aware of his leanings towards Jews.

As for Washington, he was happy to have a French army and navy on US soil/waters. Hell, France basically bankrolled Washington.

No. Washington more than the rest combined. Washington isn't even a footnote in history without French aid from day one.
OK, you may be right. I suppose the Office of the Historian for the US State Department could have gotten it wrong!

Are you the Historian for the US State Dept?
No, the link I provided is from the Office of the Historian of the US State Department. The link begins with talking about Washington's frustration with France's meddling, and continues from there.

Is there a British or Ugandan equivalent so we can put this AIPAC criticism to bed? Are there groups that lobby for one country that aren’t registered?

Do the research and get back to me. There are thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) of groups that lobby for their self interests. You are only focused on AIPAC because Jew Haters like NZ want to you notice them.

Don’t tell me why I’m focused on them, I’ll be in charge of my motivations, thanks.

So you answered very emphatically “No” they shouldn’t be questioned, but you have no idea if they are an anomaly or not? How pilty of you.

Yes. There's groups for just about every country that has people who have migrated to the USA as exiles.

Cuban exiles have had a great deal of influence on our Cuban policy and no one seems to care.

Is that an equivalent? Does AIPAC and those groups focus on immigrants or their home country or both? If it’s the latter then are the groups also not registered as foreign agents with our government?

Israeli exiles?

As I said, there are thousands (probably hundreds of thousands) of organizations that lobby. Clearly, you and I have not heard of more than a few of them. We hear a lot about the NRA and AIPAC because their detractors wants us to be aware of them. That was the point I was trying to make. Don't be so sensitive.

To clarify, my sister works for a DC lobbying firm. I know enough to know that there are groups attempting to lobby for pretty much every large foreign country's interests (be it overtly or covertly).

p.s. are your sure that "No." is a very emphatic no? Or, are you inferring?

The law is very clear on who has to register as a foreign agent. AIPAC does not.

They are all American citizens, why would they register as foreign agents?

Most Cuban groups lobbied for the overthrowing of Castro, strengthening the embargo, etc.

If you lobby on behalf of a foreign government you have to register. I’m not sure what the breakdown is as far as American citizenship. I thought pilt would copy and paste by now so I guess we will see.

Groups that lobby and groups that lobby on behalf of a foreign government are different.

Interjections usually leave little room for nuance. “No” as I took it, meant you knew exactly what you were talking about. Maybe adamant is a better word?

I would say "terse" better explains my answer than "emphatic" or "adamant".

You can be adamant without being terse, but I’m not sure you can be terse without being adamant. No would appear to be an abrupt version of what? No way? No how? Not possible? You expressed zero chance that any possibility outside of no could exist or you would have used a more felixibke interjection or more context, correct?

If you lobby at the direction of a foreign entity, you have to register - - which really isn't enforced anyway.

If you lobby at your own volition for the benefit of Isreal, FARA doesn't apply. This is AIPAC's stance

Yawn.

I was totally trolling you since you seemed to not like Pilt's "No.". I purposely replicated it. Nothing more than that.

I can't believe we have generated 5 posts on this topic.

It was my mistake originally for assuming you would have information to back up your post. I keep forgetting that’s not a thing for some folks here.

It’s enforced, just not consistently.

It is amazing a thriving democracy like Israel receives more handouts from the US while poor countries with starving population segments get much less. AIPAC, while they claim to have no relationship with the Israeli government, specifically the likud party, is damn good at what they do. The numbers prove that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Whether Israel is more deserving than all other countries is probably another conversation, but the popular belief that they are isn't due to AIPAC.

What? How could it not be because of AIPAC? That’s their entire reason for existing right?
