Iowa State's starting lineup for this year.

125: Alex Mackall RSSO - Rutgers transfer went 7-4 last year primarily at 133, but he had limited time because he transferred midseason.

Austin Gomez RSFR - Was the #10 overall recruit in the class of 2017. He went 8-0 in redshirt last year. Didn't really wrestle anybody that good but he did beat Markus Simmons ISU's starter last year who transferred this offseason. He also was going to be the rep for the US Junior freestyle world team but had to pull out due to injury. He beat Cornell's Vito Arujau in a best of three series to earn the spot.

141: Ian Parker RSSO - Went 22-9 last season. Spent the first part of the season at 133 then moved up to his natural weight of 141 after Kanen Storr transferred. Unfortunately, he didn't wrestle enough matches at 141 to qualify for NCAAs because he got injured. He did have a win over our very own Dean Heil unfortunately.

149: Jarrett Degen RSSO - Went 24-11. Took 3rd at Big 12 and made it to the blood round at NCAAs.

157: Chase Straw RSJR - Went 17-15 and did not qualify for NCAAs. Took 4th at Big 12s and would have been a national qualifier had he won that match.

165: Skyler St. John RSSR or Brady Jennings RSJR
St John went 8-11 while Jennings went 15-8. Curiously, St. John was the starter.

174: Marcus Coleman RSFR - Had a very good redshirt year. Went 24-2 and had a win over Danny Bush ISU's starter last season.

184: Sam Colbray RSSO - Went 16-13 and did not qualify for NCAAs at 197 last year. Had some solid wins over Jake Smith and Nate Rotert. Was also the #10 overall recruit in the class of 2016.

197: Willie Miklus RSSR - Missouri grad transfer. Miklus is 3x All-American. Miklus went 25-6 last year and took 8th at nationals.

HWT: Gannon Gremmel RSSO - Went 20-8 last season as a backup. Will battle Oklahoma State transfer Ethan Andersen for the starting job.

125 MD either Fix/Picc 4-0
133 DEC either way 7-0
141 Tough call-think brock would have more trouble than Gfeller- but 10-0
149 Dec 13-0
157 Dec 16-0
165 MD 20-0
174 Have to give edge to any of our 3 possibilities 23-0
184 Wow, can Colbray make that cut ok? tossup 23-3
197 Healthy Wiegel, still a tossup-Miklus has beat him before 23-6
HVY White smash-27-6

I gave them two of the 3 I would say were in doubt.

125 Fix with tech fall 5-0
133 Austin Gomez over Pic 5-3 Fix has Gomez # but Gomez is very good and up at 133 not sure Pic can beat him. If they switch then I give us both wins.
141 Brock over Parker in a decision 8-3
149 Lewallen with a decision 11-3
157 Jonce Blaylock with a decision 14-3.
165 Joe Smith MD 18-3
174 Chandler Rogers md 22-3
184 Colbray with decision 22-6
197 Miklus with decision over Weigel 22-9
285 White with a tech fall 27-9

Keegan Moore missed weight at Fargo in 2016, but he ended up reaching the finals at 220 where he was tech'd by Colbray. Keegan weighed in at 199 and Colbray weighed in at 219. Next year they could potentially meet at 184, although Keegan might not start for UNI.

I've seen rumblings that David Carr could go at 157 as a true freshman, but I think UNI should redshirt him.
