Iowa State's starting lineup for this year.
125: Alex Mackall RSSO - Rutgers transfer went 7-4 last year primarily at 133, but he had limited time because he transferred midseason.
Austin Gomez RSFR - Was the #10 overall recruit in the class of 2017. He went 8-0 in redshirt last year. Didn't really wrestle anybody that good but he did beat Markus Simmons ISU's starter last year who transferred this offseason. He also was going to be the rep for the US Junior freestyle world team but had to pull out due to injury. He beat Cornell's Vito Arujau in a best of three series to earn the spot.
141: Ian Parker RSSO - Went 22-9 last season. Spent the first part of the season at 133 then moved up to his natural weight of 141 after Kanen Storr transferred. Unfortunately, he didn't wrestle enough matches at 141 to qualify for NCAAs because he got injured. He did have a win over our very own Dean Heil unfortunately.
149: Jarrett Degen RSSO - Went 24-11. Took 3rd at Big 12 and made it to the blood round at NCAAs.
157: Chase Straw RSJR - Went 17-15 and did not qualify for NCAAs. Took 4th at Big 12s and would have been a national qualifier had he won that match.
165: Skyler St. John RSSR or Brady Jennings RSJR
St John went 8-11 while Jennings went 15-8. Curiously, St. John was the starter.
174: Marcus Coleman RSFR - Had a very good redshirt year. Went 24-2 and had a win over Danny Bush ISU's starter last season.
184: Sam Colbray RSSO - Went 16-13 and did not qualify for NCAAs at 197 last year. Had some solid wins over Jake Smith and Nate Rotert. Was also the #10 overall recruit in the class of 2016.
197: Willie Miklus RSSR - Missouri grad transfer. Miklus is 3x All-American. Miklus went 25-6 last year and took 8th at nationals.
HWT: Gannon Gremmel RSSO - Went 20-8 last season as a backup. Will battle Oklahoma State transfer Ethan Andersen for the starting job.
