We win 3 of 10 matches and one was against a 3rd string at the buzzer.

Nice match by Geer with a convincing 9-2 win. Probably the best cowboy performance of the night

Lost the last 2 matches by major which means we lost 23 to 9. We lost the riding time battle by a bunch and we lost the takedown war by a bunch. I really miss AJ Ferrari. I really hope that Voinovich, Young Mastro and Kyle Haas are developing. Also I hope that 1 of the true freshman take the 157 position ( Ferrari or Williams) and the other redshirts. The next year the freshman who wrestled redshirts and the other takes 157. Wittlake will then be gone and 1 can wrestle 157 and 1 can wrestle 165. Next year I hope as the season progresses we see that 35 is possible, this year it seems like 35 is so far away. I hate Iowa, Iowa State and Northern Iowa beating us badly this year. Good thing we don't wrestle that junior college in Iowa.

Very cool event. Great vibe. Iowa just had a bunch of 25 year olds wrestling our pups.

We did reprove to Mexico and Ecuador that we still own wresting in the America's, so there's that.

I am not saying run coach Smith off but he has to take a look at this season and figure out what is going on.He is ultimately reasonable for the program regardless of the problem.

Could have been a great event. They put the mats out in the outfield. Most the seats were such a long way from the mats you were watching the big screen. Needs to move back to a home and home or figure out a way to get the fans closer. Geer was out best wrestler tonight. Fix did a good job locking down the win. That was a tough match. Everyone else needs some help and learn how to get off bottom.

I think the best way I can describe it is simply disappointing. I was disappointed in our effort in several matches. Coming off some loses the last couple of weeks I really thought I would see more offense and more effort in riding. I saw neither in every match we lost so It went pretty much as expected honestly, but I was optimistic that we could pull off a upset at one of the toss up weights from 149, 157, 165.

Positive Thoughts: We won all the matches we were favored in. I really liked Carter Young and Luke Surbers efforts. They both want it bad, just young (no pun). Surber might not be winning as much as we want but he’s also a first timer 285 and he’s really been wrestling beasts this year. Carter Young has shown so much improvement in the last month and since that Columbia match has been wrestling with more toughness.

Dation Fix is a different animal this year. He got 2 TD’s on ADS and wrestled on a another level than he did last 2 times and I have a feeling he ain’t slowing down.

Geer was Geer and I was nervous about him tonight. Glad he got that win.

Bad things: Mastro hurt or not hurt???Those last 35 sec got me confused because the first 2 periods were embarrassing for him and I wish we knew the deal on him. He was out wrestled by the other guy not doing much of anything and ended up winning. I really hope he’s banged up and that’s the excuse for the terrible effort lately.

Gfeller didn’t do much of anything offensively and got rode hard and got frustrated bc he couldn’t get it typical reversal scrambled near fall combo. Gfeller got the best I’ve seen of murin tonight. G just needs to find a few shots instead of that diving single. He didn’t look his best tonight.

Wyatt showed a lot of will, more than the next two guys, but just doesn’t look confident if his offense at all. And didn’t do anything else. Been his weakness his entire career. He’s not really putting on the ride anymore either.

Wittlake lacks the attitude and will to win. He has all the tangibles but has no confidence and it shows in every guy he faces that’s ranked higher than him. He’s lost before it starts. I don’t see Wittlake ever breaking down that wall.

Plott didn’t and really couldn’t do much. He was out strength by much inferior opponent tonight, 7 year senior! IMO who will will it all this year. Plott needs a big win to mentally get back on track.
