Tariffs are an amazing tool to bring America more prosperity than it has ever known. But they will be harmful to many of our largest and most politically connected corporations, so we will exempt them from the negative effects the tariffs will cause.

Yes, Dodge, free trade doesn't exist in any current reality. Hopefully you've realized that.
I've always realized that, Medic. Where did you get the idea I don't get that? My argument has always been the closer a country gets to free trade the more peaceful and properous it becomes. Therefore it is best to go in the direction of free markets, not government interference. If you think government interference is best, say so.

Your incessant screechy rants about "free trade." Everyone else posts with reality in mind and it always seems to send you off the deep end.

Okay, you've unloaded your frustration with my screechy rants about free trade. Did you want to make a declaration of the superiority of government interference? Or were you just fishing for a gotcha?

No, just confirming that you know that "free trade" only exists in your fantasies.

Ah, I see. Once again fishing for a gotcha.
Here you go, you tariftonic twit. I posted it once but I'm pretty sure you didn't listen. In here, beginning at the ~5:00 minute mark are the answers you have been demanding since Jan. 20th. It is not only all your demanded data but more than you can possibly process & recall much less articulate.

No ad hominem-ing here sport.

It's weird that you see a gotcha coming around every corner. Maybe if you didn't post dumb shit frequently, I wouldn't call you out on it in embarrassing fashion and then you wouldn't have to be so paranoid.

But back to our "free trade" convo, have you ever heard the phrase "don't let perfect be the enemy of good?"

Might I also add, paraphrased from Gen. Patton, "A good plan, violently executed now is better than a perfect plan next week"

No, of course I didn't listen. You said anyone who uses MAGA as a noun should not listen. I use MAGA as a noun. I'm nor sure what you want me to use it as. A verb?

Oh, please, Medic. Looking for gotchas is your MO. Yes, I've heard that phrase. Are you saying government intervention in the economy is "the good?" Make you point. I'm sure you know how to make declarative sentences. Make one!

Dodge, I don't have to look for gotchas. You deliver them to me on the regular. I do enjoy you pissing down your leg any time I ask you a question though, lol.

No, I'm not saying government intervention in trade (we're not talking about the economy) is "the good," but THE perfect isn't attainable in reality.

If "free trade" only exists in our fantasies (THE perfect), we should be striving for the fairest and freest trade that we can get (the good) with our trading partners.

Again, I ask, why do you misuse the English language by using MAGA as a noun? Were you absent in 4th grade?

I admit it is frustrating when you go into "prosecutor mode" thinking you've finally hit the mother load for a gotcha. I'm still waiting for you to make a definitive statement regarding free trade vs government intervention. But I understand why you don't. You think you'll walk yourself into an unforced gotcha of your own. IMO free trade is *the perfect* and it should be what a society should strive for with everything it has. I don't think humans are capable of achieving perfection, but it is the target to aim for every time a society takes aim. Thinking the way to "get even" with an authoritarian economy is by becoming authoritarian ourselves is a huge mistake. (See, Medic, there is a declarative statement from which we could converse. You should try it sometime.)

I meant the comedic type along the lines of beevis.

Again I ask, if it's not a noun what is it, a verb?
Dan, the reason I engage with you here is the same reason I regularly let my dog chase the laser pointer around the house. Difference with you and my dog, sometimes he catches it.

Here you go dimwit:

"Make America Great Again" (MAGA, US: /ˈmæɡə/)[1] is an American political slogan most recently popularized by Donald Trump during his successful presidential campaigns in 2016 and in 2024.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I'm sorry you don't like it when I ask questions about the dumb shit you post. I offered you a remedy for your issue, don't post dumb shit.
I'm still waiting for you to make a definitive statement regarding free trade vs government intervention.
I did. You even quoted it in your above post. In fact, I posted pretty much the exact same thing you posted below.

So a slogan is not a noun? What is it, an adverb?
Bless your heart Dan. Remember the take off on the old saw, "It's better to be thought a liberal/commie/facist/terrorist/anarchist than to type one letter on the keyboard and prove it?" Well, you're rivaling Hemingway for keystrokes here. Oh, & the old saw was right too.

"Fair trade" is not the same thing a "free" trade. Fair trade is the politicians' way of persuading the public to allow them to interfere and "protect" us poor defenseless souls.

You still haven't said what a slogan is. MAGA is a slogan. Is a slogan an adjective?

Dan: "Quantas never crashed", "Quantas never crashed", "Quantas never crashed".

Apologies to those that have not seen 'Rain Man'. To those that have, I hoist a drink for you & pray that Dan gets the help he needs.

I'm not sure what you think you accomplish with comments like this. I guess you think it makes you look smart. Oh well. Let's put this non-controversy to rest. Spelled out "Make America Great Again" is a phrase. But when condensed into the acronym MAGA it essentially becomes a word, a noun signifying a political philosophy (although I am loathe to call it a philosophy). I assume you are offended when I call you a MAGA. In all honesty I mean it as a mild insult. I find the MAGA "philosophy" to be insulting to human intelligence, and consider those who embrace it to be slightly challenged. So you are right to be offended when I call you a MAGA. I'm sure you call yourself a MAGA with great pride. Eh, we have a difference of opinion.
