Looking at it from the 80,000 foot level:

1. Need a QB that can run, has some toughness, and does not have a history of being injury prone. Can read the option, can read RPO's, and get the ball out on time. If the offense is as simple as Marion describes it, hopefully not a high hurdle.
2. We need OL that can run block.
3. We need more RB depth going to a 2 back set. We need RB's with a good initial burst and quick hitting the line from a set position. I would assume RB's will be asked to block at times in the option game. Need some toughness.
4. Need WR's willing to block and play hard when the ball is not designed to go to them.

Your thoughts on recruiting needs?

General thoughts?

Maybe one benefit for a defensive team that was horrific in run defense is practicing against an offense daily that wants to be a tough physical running team. They will also get to practice against what we hope is a good play action team.

I listened to a podcast that hypothesized that his offense will require a learning curve for P4 DC's once he reaches that level. That it could possibly take up to 4 years to get use to this offense. Not certain what to think of that, but if he is our OC I hope it is true. The next point that was made, was that this OC is so creative, this individual noted that he believed Marion is already planning for that and knows what the next expansion and tweak to the offense will be. That is speculation, but it does appear Marion is not afraid to try new things and has the confidence in his ability to teach and implement, and to impart confidence in a team in his offense.

After watching the offense, my only concern is how does a run first team really translate at the P4 level today. I know part of what he does is to scheme some advantages, but that is my only concern. To counter that, his offense seems to maximize player ability and he designed it to work without perhaps top level players across the entire unit. Things are cyclical, when defenses started getting lighter at the LB position and basically played with more safeties behind the LOS that could cover, as well as lighter and faster rush DE's it was just a matter of time that teams attacked those positions with more physical players and by scheme, so I am not surprised that what Marion is doing is sound based on changes in the game.
