ICE raids

They will also target those who have had their day in court, been denied asylum and just decided to give a giant FO to the US and court system. The liberals are in overdrive to get the next residents of the plantations lined up for dam sure. Just don't see how this play anywhere but deep blue states absolutely can't thrill moderate D's or independents.

I have a lot of sympathy for those who “fall through the cracks” in terms of asylum, but these folks are a small, insignificant minority of those ICE is going after. I knew two brothers “who fell through the cracks” in terms of asylum. They were from Iran and their dad was executed by the mullahs in 80 or 81 after he opposed them after they began their reign of terror. The mullahs forbade the mother and their sons from leaving the country and blacklisted the family from ever having a government job (teacher, postal worker etc...). The mother managed to change their names to her maiden name and get them passports and they got tourist visas to the US. They had family in Oklahoma and settled in Oklahoma. Kids were around 7or 8 at this point. She applied for asylum but could not prove that her husband/their father had been executed because of the name change and she had not dared to bring any documents with proof of that when she left Iran because she would’ve been detained once they figured out who she was (they would search belongings in the airport). The asylum claim was denied. They began the appeals process. The mom worked two jobs always to support them. The kids were good students, played sports, were socially well-adjusted and worked to pay the bills. They loved this country. They were model immigrants. Their appeals were denied three times and they were ordered to go back to Iran. The kids were 18 or 19 at this point. They stayed illegally. Older kid wanted to be a Poke but couldn’t afford to move to Stillwater and worked while in community college at OSU Tech. The younger son was a Sooner and in school in Norman and working almost full time. Mom had moved to Houston where she had a good job opportunity managing a restaurant. Unfortunately she was hit by a 90 year-old who ran a red light and was killed. Kids were devastated. Some people who knew this story got ahold of David Boren and told him the story. Boren used his contacts to work with Rep. Ernest Istook to pass a private bill ( an extremely rare thing) in Congress to grant permanent residence to the two brothers. The bill passed and five years later they became naturalized citizens. Both live in Dallas now. The older brother runs a successful laundry business and the younger one is a successful lawyer.

They should stop announcing they are going after these people at 4AM on Sunday and just go get them. Too often Trump makes these proclamations and then backtracks. Just do it and STFU.
I think the Trump position is that this such a large operation that the word is going to get out anyways.

I think one of the side benefits of this is that it is causing major anxiety and disruption in the illegal community which will serve as a small deterrent and it will also put a negative light on their political supporters who vocally oppose enforcing the law.
