HS Recruiting News

Bo’s style is interesting. Works great for high school where he can bully his opponents. D1 guys are going to have ways to shut that pressure down though. And every D1 coach is going to know about Bo. We’ll see how it works out soon enough!

sort of like MM. We shall see. I haven't lost a single second of sleep over it. I love our guys.

Spoke with a family member this weekend who is living up in Iowa City doing their residency. Was told that they heard from some close sources who work with the team that Bo's NIL deal is somewhere in the ballpark of $5M total being broken out over 4 or 5 years.

Willie and Basch talked on their show a few weeks ago about a lot of the NIL $’s you see will be the deal’s value over 4-5 years and include the value of tuition, room & board, meals, a car, etc. That’s not to take away from the crazy $$ Bo and guys like him will make, but it’s important to remember in some cases.

I've been saying this for about a year. Maybe I should become an online personality for wrestling so people finally listen to me.

You think Jordan Raney is going to stay at 133? I think it will be a tough weight for him. But if we see Jax, Vega, Robideau all go one weight higher, I can see two Raneys occupy between 125-141.

Or maybe Jayden 125, Jax 133, Jordan 141? I really have no clue. My guess is the same as yours. I don't think they're coming here.

Here's what Willie said on Intermat:
to be honest, i'm not getting much intel on this one.

sounded for a while like it was iowa (which would still be my bet)

but there's some murmurs about both tOSU and OKST right now,

Get talent in the door and figure it out. If we are ever going to challenge Penn State we have to take every top 10 kid we can get our hands on.
Yes and no!

This staff is vetting kids and going after the ones that fit wanting to win championships.

Being Top 10 in HS doesn’t automatically translate to being Top 8 in March.

Well sure. I would assume we all agree the staff actually wanting/thinking a kid is good is step No. 1.

Haha, I may have worded that poorly. They aren't just taking a kid because he is dominate in HS and has a wonderful ranking.
Exactly. DT has been adamant about building the right culture at OSU since he arrived. Talent is only part of the equation. Guys like Vega, Jax, Wolbert and Robideau are everything you want in a recruit. Even Dee has talked about the huge positive influence that Robideau has had on him. Living the life 24-7, 365, being somewhat moldable and completely coachable as well as trying to estimate a recruit's ceiling are all things the staff is looking at.

Yeah, this is what I was trying to say.

I wonder if nil includes total value of picking up room/board/ books etc. as well.

Ok
Iowa board is thinking Cowboys

It’s been kind of like the Snyder situation in that you start hearing rumors and then more and more insiders start confirming there’s legs… seeing that with the Iowa board here. They’re convinced the Raney’s are now not going to Iowa and we seem to be the consensus pick for them. Would be wild to have them, Jax and Ross in that class. Effectively 4 of the top 6. I’m now understanding the PSU view of the Rocco/Ryder thing. Hate to see a kid leave you’ve been excited about but love the constant influx of talent. Can’t see where the Raney’s go with Jax and Vega in the fold unless Jax goes 149 and Vega goes 157. Or the smaller Raney goes 125. Even then, we still have Jamison and Swiderski for this year and next. Hoping we have a similar level of koolaid drinking that the Nittany Lions have with guys just wanting to be in that room even at the cost of a year or two of eligibility.

Jamison and Swiderski will be seniors when that class are freshman, so they can just redshirt.
