HS Recruiting News

It will be used in situations of inadequate desire, work ethic issues, mental and physical health issues. The roster moving moving forward won’t have holes. Well, after two cycles most likely.

Recruiting talent and talent identification will be a machine that works.

I’m with you I just think you will see it more than you think. I bet we add 2-3 from the portal next year and 1-2 most years.

There will be guys like Hamati, Spratley, Hendrickson, or Izzak every year looking for a better situation to develop.

Yeah, that’s about right. But our lineup will most likely have only one or two transfers in the lineup in the near future with some years that don’t have any.

Truthfully, if that were the route, we go get an AA at every weight. We are that type of draw again.

Could be, it will free up scholarship money but not NIL money ( what they gave to this group is gone). Also, a lot of scholarship money will be given out to the 2025 class which has great quality and quantity.
Transfer portal, NIL and Kish leaving NDSU has really wrecked their Program. Iowa took 2 All Americans Franek and Calliendo. Kish and Oklahoma took Parker, Sax and Mora. Nebraska took their 197 who pinned the number 1 seed at Nationals 2 or 3 years ago. The Bison wrestled Iowa State today which I thought, crap. Here was an interesting result that some on this forum might be interested in Tayshon Glover of the Bison beat Carroll 8 to 5 at 197. Glover is listed as a 174 that is 5:8 tall true freshman, who took 2nd place in North Carolina last year. Stunning.

Transfer isn’t working out too well for him right now

I’m know this is not recruiting but we were talking about how teams have been hurt or helped by the portal.
CSU Bakersfield 21, Michigan State 14

174: Ceasar Garza (MSU) over Chris Neal (CSUB) (TF 19-4 3:25)

184: Gerrit Nijenhuis (CSUB) over Lucas Daly (MSU) (MD 8-0)

197: #4 AJ Ferrari (CSUB) over #25 Remy Cotton (MSU) (MD 13-4)

285: Jake Andrews (CSUB) over Max Vanadia (MSU) (MD 11-2)

125: Richard Castro-Sandoval (CSUB) over Caleb Weiand (MSU) (Dec 8-7)

133: Santino Sanchez (CSUB) over Tristan Lujan (MSU) (Dec 4-1)

141: Evan Herriman (MSU) over Hayden Zinkin (CSUB) (Dec 3-0)

149: Jaden Crumpler (MSU) over Steve Caday (CSUB) (Dec 5-1)

157: Braden Stauffenberg (MSU) over Devyn Flores-Che (CSUB) (Dec 6-5)

165: Guillermo Escobedo (CSUB) over Jay Nivison (MSU) (TB-1 2-1)

I dont know how bad MSU (a Big 10 team, mind you) was last year, but they got beat by a very terrible (CSUB) team from last year.

Bo is not committing anytime soon. He will use all the interactions he will get with respect to social media and finally commit close to end of this cycle. Anything can happen including change of heart.

Correct, and it kind of sucks, but it isn't smart for him to forego any exposure in regards to the earning potential of his social media presence.

The good: The Basset's are smart people in regards to putting their children in the right situation for future benefit. They are not walking around with hands out asking them to be filled.

The bad: Anything can happen and change things in a moment.

FWIW I saw Willie Saylor on the Iowa board the other day and he was saying that Iowa was not getting Jax or Bo.
Bo's family has $$$, Jax's family is not as well off. Turning down life changing money is going to be hard for Jax. I respect Willie's opinion more than about anyone and I truly hope he's right.

Yeah, but the earning ceiling for Jax is much, much larger at OSU and PSU than Iowa. Hell, his ceiling at the Compton OSU is higher than at Iowa.

These guys will be utilizing their name to make money before they step on the mat as a collegiate.

I agree, but guaranteed money (over a half mil) is still hard for anyone to turn down. Just like Figs to Iowa next year- mark it down.

I posted a week or so ago about this very topic. My opinion on it is that both Jax and Bo will be much better off financially long term if they go to a program where they can develop even more and that has the resources for them to succeed post college. That means landing in a program who has a strong RTC with top national talent to train with. Currently that isn't Iowa, their RTC is falling off. This is why they are trying to paying so much $$ to attract transfers and recruits. OSU is working towards that by showing they are committed to brining in talent and funding the RTC. But PSU is the only program that fits the bill with that RTC currently. I think it comes down to how much trust they have in DT and that he can and will turn Pokes wrestling club into what PSU is.

Respectfully disagree, the earning ceiling at Iowa is higher than anywhere else and I don’t think it’s close. Iowa is paying the biggest NIL around, Iowa has the most fan support, and Iowa has the most media support.

Is the rumor that Iowa is offering Jax a NIL deal of $500,000 lump sum for 4 years or per year?

I’m no insider, but it wouldn’t surprise me. Iowa has the money, minds well try to buy the best wrestler in the class. I don’t think Iowa gets Bo/Jax but I’m glad Tom is throwing the kitchen sink at them.
