Do gays still have their rights? Women? Blacks? Check all over and make sure. He really went full fascist with that recognition of the courts decision to put a stay on his immigration eo. Legal Latino immigrants are in hiding because it's not about enforcing federal law it's because they are brown. I bet he has the leakers tortured and killed when caught in true paranoid mad man fashion.

Anybody got any more pre Hitler actions?

Well let's see, he pissed off Sweden. Sweden. Sweden was a neutral country in WWII and profited greatly from selling goods to Germany, most notably iron ore for steel. So, that's not very Hitler like is it? Those comparisons just flabbergast me. I cannot believe the disrespect the office of the President has endured since the election, let alone the man who occupies it.

I suspect we'll see a number of democrats boo, hiss, refuse to clap and walk out on Trump next week when he addresses Congress.

Why shouldn't they if that's the way they feel?

Obama was called a liar from the Congressional floor by Rep. Wilson during an address to Congress. I didn't have a problem with it, did you?

Refuse to clap? Really? You might kinda have a point on the rest of it (being improperly disruptive), but refusing to clap?

We need question time on the Congressional Floor in America.

Because we expect our Congressmen and Women to act like adults even when they disagree. Yes, Rep. Wilson had his outburst. He also was reprimanded by House leadership for that outburst, and was criticized by numerous members of his OWN party for lacking decorum. I don't care if they don't clap. I don't care if they sit the whole time in silent protest. But I can expect that the representatives of our government to act like something other than spoiled 7th graders.

I'm not suggesting that he is Hitler-like, but I'm going to play devil's advocate on your initial point.

Do you think that Hitler rose to power, and started building concentration camps within the first month? Do you think Trump is stupid? Would it have been a smart move to sign an XO making homosexuality illegal in the US within the first month of his presidency?

If he (or those influencing him) is inclined to make changes that negatively affect the civil liberties of a particular group (lets say the LGBT community, or Muslims), he would be playing the long game and making subtle changes, the first of which might be to discredit the media so that he, and his people, could control the narrative.

I'm not saying that he has any inclination at all to hurt any particular group of US citizens. I'm just saying that it would be a fallacy to say, "look, nothing like that has happened in the first month, so that proves that he is not (and his inner circle are not) bigoted against a particular group within the population."

I don't expect them to clap during his speech on subjects they don't agree with. I do expect them to clap when the Sergeant of Arms says, "Mr. Speaker, the President of the United States" just like the GOP did every time Obama entered. Whether they will remains to be seen.

Do not despair I'm doing this every month so we can chart the rise.

Did YOU personally have a problem with Rep. Wilson's outburst?

I did say impris might kinda have a point with regarding booing and hissing, but he was the one that mentioned refusing to clap.

Why?

I'm generally against enforced or expected showings of false approval....that's just me.

Oh, maybe tradition or respect for the office not necessarily for the occupant. But, that's just me.

Tradition, maybe.

Respect for the office, I don't buy it. Clapping is something more than a showing of respect. Clapping is a showing of approval. I wonder if every single Republican clapped when Obama entered the Congressional floor. My bet is no.

Don't know if everyone did or didn't. I saw, on the times I watched, a large number of Republicans did clap for him or maybe they were clapping for the office.

Was going to say the same thing. I'm sure @imprimis wasn't keeping track of the Congressional GOP to make sure they were treating Obama with the appropriate level of respect. Yet, now, he is going to pay close attention so that he can call out any Democrat who doesn't clap for Trump.

I saw a screaming millennial on TV last night that said that the dictator is already moving beyond Hitler and that we have to preserve law and order by forcing him out of office (which doesn't sound like law and order).

So, apparently lots of rights have been removed.

I'll get concerned when Trump starts rounding up specific groups of people and puts them in gas chambers.

Yeah, you might want to get concerned before that. Once that started happening in Germany there was nothing that any concerned German citizens could do to make it stop. Hitler had complete control of the government and military, and anyone who challenged him was likely to end up in one of those gas chambers.

Are there any ACTUAL correlations between how Hitler came to power and Trump being elected president, besides the hysterical lefty created ones that aren't based on any actual historical information?

Why would there be? Hitler was coming into power 80 years ago in a different country.

Did Trump give some red flag signal that he was going to go around Congress at every opportunity? If he said, "I've got a pen and I've got a phone", then that's a red flag and I'm glad you're keeping an eye out for us.

Especially considering that he is trying to disarm the public

This thread was not started by a liberal.
Yes, I know. I was asking you, a liberal type, if there were any valid comparisons of Trump and Hitler. You answered with "Why wouldd there be?" I'm guessing your answer was no in just a few more words.

Well, I did mention his attempts to discredit the media. Both men have/had that in common. Beyond that, my only real concern has to do with Bannon being in such an influential position. I think he is very smart and might have many things in common with Hitler.

Yes, I personally had a problem with it. That was not the time nor the place for that level of vitriol. Its not an 11 on my rage meter (like everything is for the snowflakes), but it will dissappoint me. Now question: If this booing and hissing happens, will the left criticize those who do it as boisterously as both parties railed against Mr. Wilson? Somehow I doubt it, but maybe Dems will prove me wrong.

These are the Republican responses to that incident:

After the speech, Republican Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential candidate defeated by Obama last year, called Wilson's outburst "totally disrespectful" and said he should apologize. Appearing on CNN's "Larry King Live," he said there was "no place for it in that setting or any other and he should apologize immediately."

Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tennessee, also denounced the heckling.

"Certainly, I respect the office of the president, and I think that's not the kind of thing that is appropriate in that kind of setting especially," he said. "I don't know who said it, but my sense is most people don't think it was a good idea it occurred. And I happen to be one of those."

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, told CNN affiliate WIS-TV in Columbia that he, too, was disappointed.

"The president's combative tone did not justify a member of Congress shouting out, 'You lie,' " said Graham. "Our nation's president deserves to be treated with respect. It was an inappropriate remark, and I am glad an apology has been made."

Can Trump actually discredit a media that has discredited itself?

I feel like we have really high expectations around here. This is the third time I've seen a statement like this.

I wouldn't say it to every poster around here. But, I have a high level of respect for Medic. He seems to do a pretty good job of thinking about topics and being open minded when discussing them. Even when he doesn't agree.

Don't pretend that it is a unilateral issue and he has nothing to do with it. You are smarter than that.
Yes, I am smart and haven't needed Trump to point out the media bullshit and bias. It's all out there to be read/viewed by discerning people. The intellectually dishonest position is one that thinks people need Trump to bash the media in order to distrust the media. You're likely coming from a biased perspective regarding the topic. For me, Trump has said nothing I hadn't already figured out. And there are a lot of people just like me.
