I was thinking about Hezbollah defending its territory when Israel invaded vs the IDF defending Israel when Hamas invaded. Per the report in the link Medic provided about the Oct 7 invasion, Hamas penetrated somewhere between 13 and 14 miles in the one day incursion before being turned back. What’s the deepest the IDF got into Lebanon after several weeks following “softening” the area with bombardment and attacks with tanks and armored personnel carriers? Something like 5 miles, wasn’t it? Does that tell us anything about the combat readiness of the IDF? It tells me they may not be the vaunted warriors we’ve been told they are. But what do I know?
