That was a tough, gritty and if we are honest a little ugly win but that’s what solid well coached teams do. Grind and find ways to win. I really like the makeup of this team. Protecting the football and making the right calls situationally were huge keys to the win today.

Moving forward we will have to show improvement defensively, especially in the back 7. That is two weeks in a row where we have been out-gained. That certainly isn't the critical stat but it’s a trend that will bite you a time or two if we don’t see some improvement. Teams are targeting our CBs and slot S in the passing game. We have made some big game changing plays the last two weeks and might need that consistently.

The good news is our DL sure makes life hard on opposing QBs. That game might have looked a lot differently had we need beat on the Tech QB that first half. He had a bunch of success but paid for it and was a different QB in the second half. Those guys are playing at a high level.

Sanders has come down to earth some the last 2 weeks but has made winning plays when called upon and his leadership and toughness have led to our 2-0 start. He had some errant throws today that probably should have been picked but his ball security overall has been strong. We have to keep him healthy and today was a little scary in that regard. Hail Marys, cross fingers, etc…

OL injuries are something to watch as we have a very small margin for error there and hated to see some guys go down. We cannot afford long term injuries here.

It’s going to be tough sledding in this league but man it feels good to be 5-0 (2-0) and watching OU flounder. I don’t see a better team in this conference right now although that margin is small.
