DeBlasio has bought into AOC's GND promise and will be mandating a retrofiting of all skyscrappers in NYC to achieve 30% emmission reductions. Those who fail to comply will be subject to fines potentially in the millions of dollars. Given most of those buildings have long term leases (our lease in downtown Manhattan was 25 years IIRC), I'll be curious how these improvements will be paid for and costs recouped and what percentage of current residents in these buildings packup and move on rather than face increases to what are already some of the highest real estate leasing rates in the country.
