I think Davos still has a kid somewhere but I can't remember if that is the show, books or both. I thought it would be interesting to see Davos join up with the Night's Watch but I can't see him leaving his kid.

One of the things I love about watching the show is trying to see if they spill anything on the future books. I just got to thinking in the books Davos son is close to Stannis so it might affect what he would do by Stannis daughter being burned to death. That might be something that keeps him around so he can watch out for his son. I really want to know will Stannis get Winterfell or will he fail even though he killed his daughter. I really hope we find that out this Sunday for the finale.
Davos had 7 sons before the Battle of the Blackwater. 5 of them were in Stannis' army. The 2 youngest were at home with Davos' wife. The 4 oldest sons died in the Battle of the Blackwater. I think the oldest was Stannis' Squire at the time. The 2 youngest are still with Davos' wife. The 3rd youngest survived the BOTB and was at the wall with Stannis. I'm pretty sure that he wanted to go with Stannis' army to Deepwood Motte and then on to Winterfell, but Stannis made him stay behind to watch out for/care for Melisandre. I think he is still at the wall. If he is not there, he is now at the Nightfort with Selyse/Shireen.
In the TV show, I don't think they have mentioned any of Davos sons other than those that died in the BOTB.
Another good Ask the Maester column. I pretty much agree with him on the Stannis stuff.
