Good Read on Russia

Few of our NATO allies spend enough on their military to offer us more than token / symbolic military help.

Any country who spends less than 2% of their GDP is asking US taxpayers to take up the slack.

Meanwhile, many months after this story broke, American citizens in Flint (a Democrat-ran hell hole) still can't drink the water.

So I ask, why does Russia (on the opposite side of the world) need to be our military enemy when Americans are living in third world conditions?

Shouldn't Russia be a country we can have a productive working relationship with? (Since they're one of the only other countries who can help us take out ISIS)

Not to mention, even if you have a powerful military, poking the Russian bear doesn't work out well.

Just ask Hitler and Napoleon.

Germany's defense spending goes back to WWII. Germany for a long time was not even allowed to have much of a military. They are still in recovery mode. While they have a unique and interesting way to keep manning levels up they don't spend a lot money on their military because of past perceptions of their country. With that being said I think the Germans are still a capable military force when talking about their career military members, but most a just filling in. Iceland and the Northern NATO members including Canada who also participates in NORAD really should be larger contributors as they benefit the most, as well as Turkey.

They can just pay if they want.

Germany also hosts NATO’s only operational base run by and paid for by NATO. Many NATO members are not as well trained as US, Canadian, and UK personnel, and all benefit from this. The enlisted ranks for the English speaking countries are smarter, better trained, and better equipped than the officers from the rest of these countries. The disparity is not just in the money it is in the product at the end. If they only paid more that wouldn’t really be enough.
