Glad the government is shut down

Did you see they filled their plane with medical supplies so it would look like a humanitarian mission? That pick of bob menendez on the beach trying to talk that old chick in the pink bikini into fixing her hair into pigtails was hilarious.

Are the tribes affected?

Let me just say on behalf of Patriotic Tax-Paying Liberal Democratic Socialists everywhere—glad to be of Assistance!

Enjoy your meals...

You really think food stamp recipients are Trump's base? I think they'll know who to be pissed at.

You must not keep up...take a look at the fact sheets on states receiving the most food stamps per capita...

Yes, there are plenty of food stamps recipients that are included in Trump’s base. It’s fvcking stupid to believe otherwise.

Your foodstamps are safe for now. But what about Government Housing—are you worried any about poor, elderly getting evicted?

Has Congress even sent Trump a bill that he could sign or veto that would fund the government?

We have a Congress? I thought they were just one big paid unionized lobbyists. They even created “2” sides, this is like Vegas, guarantees money action on both sides. These jokers getting paid and taking vacations.

Socialism must be hell...

Well, only if you protest it's failings.

“A Bloomberg analysis shows that 12.9 percent of residents of states that backed Trump in 2016 used food stamps in February, the most recent month for which data are available, compared with 11.4 percent in states won by Democrat Hillary Clinton. That amounts to 23.8 million people in Trump states compared with 16.2 million in Clinton territory.”

You do realize that in no way quantifies who they voted for just because their state sent it's electoral votes... right?

Nope. I live in a van down by the river. Eviction proof.
So you don’t have a problem with people not getting paid for work?
Straight out of Putin/Trump playbook..
Typical Republican capitalist landowner on food stamps—living off the land. Private or gubmint?

I'm not saying food stamp recipients are bad people. Just trying to find out where you get the idea they are monolithic Trump voters?

Although the highest rates of food-stamp assistance tend to be in the most Democratic areas, the most rural fifth of the population, which is overwhelmingly Trump voters, is also the most likely to live in a household that receives food stamps, the Post reports.

Even though the use of food stamps is not the same across the urban-rural spectrum and depends on the policies of the states that carry out the programs, as well as the poverty of residents, food-stamp use is particularly high in key Trump strongholds such as rural Appalachia, the Ozarks and much of the rural South.

While that does a great job of illustrating the economic plight of both rural poor Americans and inner city poor Americans, it still doesn't really lay out how this shutdown will be a bigger issue for Trump than NanChuck. Particularly if they don't appear to be negotiating in good faith.

"Democrats are about twice as likely as Republicans to have received food stamps at some point in their lives—a participation gap that echoes the deep partisan divide in the U.S."

I'm open minded to your point. You just haven't really made it yet.

“But when the political lens shifts from partisanship to ideology, the participation gap vanishes. Self-described political conservatives were no more likely than liberals or moderates to have received food stamps (17% for each group), according to the survey.”

You actually made my point for me I think. Let me try this....

1. There is no food stamp party.
2. Being on food stamps isn't a life sentence, and they aren't stupid. They can see a table with no counter offer on it.
3. They aren't debating team-based merits on a message board. They are trying to survive.
4. They may not all necessarily view this as a Trump shutdown - however much you would prefer they do.
