Ft Hayes open next weekend

Does anyone have any insight if we are taking all starters to Reno with a dual the following 2 days?
Mr. Earl and I are going to Reno this year instead of the Scuffle so I sure hope we take starters and since we have a dual on this trip we should be taking starters. John did say in a press release he would take some starters if they needed the work and I hope they all need the work.BTW I did not want to start a new post for this but Win rankings are out and we are ranked #3 as a team. Pic is ranked 4 at 125 and Brock is 4 at 133.Heil is #1 at 141 and Geo is #5 at 149. Not ranked at 157 but ranked #6 with Chandler at 165. Jacobe is ranked #11 at 174. Not ranked at 184 but Weigel is ranked #3 at 197 and Derek White is #11 at Heavy weight.

I think Keegan will be ranked soon and Blaylock has it in him to join the ranks as well.

I was told that John has still not made up his mind on who is going where other than no starters at the scuffle since they leave for Italy before it begins. Supposedly he does not want all starters wrestling at Reno with the two duals so close to that date. I think most of the wrestlers will be going to the Bob Smith Open since there are 2 weeks with no matches. Looking at the teams at the Bob Smith Open it may be a decent tournament as there are 30 teams listed including OSU Wyoming Oklahoma Missouri Nebraska and a number of lower division teams but they have not listed the number of wrestlers from each school yet.

Brackets look very similar to OCU, as all competition outside of OSU consists of div 2 and juco. Only intriguing matches are against their own teammates. Looks like it’s another ranking tourney for 149, as all three are in, with Boo getting Moran in the semis this time. At 141, Gfeller will take on Heil in the semis as well. And Joseph Smith is in at 165 opposite Chandler Rogers. No Derek White entered. Must just be using this as a good practice.

Some interesting potential match-ups:

141: Bryce Gfeller v Kaden Gfeller in the second round
Mike Migaldo v Brandon Ball, Ft. Hayes St. Ball is ranked @2 in D2
149: T. Moran v Geo in semis. They may have flipped Boo and Geo since wolfclan's post
174: Jacobe Smith v Mikey Labriola, true Fr, Nebraska in the finals. Labriola has a win over #10 Kocer

Would of loved to see our guys in Vehas this weekend rather than this "ranking" tournament. Oh well, good to have wrestling going on today.

Agreed on the vegas comment. Watching some of those matches on flo, Ohio state won without 3 top tier starters. The race for the title this year between them and penn state will be very interesting to say the least.

Piccinnini and Hale in the finals. Brock got a fall in the semis and faces Gary Wayne Harding in the finals. Maybe Harding was pulling too much at 125. Heil over Gfeller 7-4 in the semis. Martinez over Moran 7-2, will be an interesting finals against Boo. Blaylock gets a Nebraska kid Baptista in the finals. Rogers and Joe Smith in the finals as expected. Jacobe will get a test from Labriola, I read he was the top ranked high schooler last year at 170 according to Flo. Moore loses in the semis to Torres from Newman 8-3. Marsden 10-3 win in the semis. Andrews with a pin to the finals.

OSU won at every weight except Jacobe lost 7-6 and Keegan lost 8-3 in the semis. backup Andrews won at 285 and Boo won 7-6 at 149 over Geo. Next action in 2 weeks at Reno. l

We won 98% of the matches we were suppose to win. Mostly good but hard to understand Moore losing to a little school wrestler who has no real history of success. Smith losing to a true freshman was disappointing but that freshman was highly rated in high school. Good to see Joe Smith wrestling. I like Lewallen at 49 but you have to feel bad for Martinez. Heil has a win mindset but only winning 5 to 3 against central Oklahoma in the finals is surprising. I hope to see Fix wrestle some top college wrestlers in folkstyle this year, also. I would have liked to see Rogers against Smith in the finals. I still say we need Smith at 57 next year if we are to have a chance to win.
