#GilletJaunes (yellow vests or yellow jackets) protests. French regulations require all drivers of autos to keep a reflective yellow safety vest in car at all times. Protestors are wearing their vests with slogans on them, etc.

Protests have turned to riots.
EST. €6-7m in property damage; 4 deaths, approximately 700 injuries with 20 or so being serious.
Unclear if it is leftists, right wing, or some combination of all political leaners doing the protests. The French have a long history of this type of thing. They really like mass protests.
New Macron gasoline tax has pushed the price to over $7.00 per gallon is my understanding. I know it’s always been taxed heavily there, but yikes.

The Yellow Vest protests going on are almost exclusively focused on that gas tax and other cost of living issues like that.
My first trip to Paris was in the middle of a huge violent rally, and I thought it was surely the next French revolution. Our cabbie blew it off and said it was constant. Apparently mad frogs marching and raising hell is a way of life there.

And you also didn't put in the shitty lies about the kid being a paid actor. The video had nothing to do with the speculation about him being a paid stooge, it was just unflattering.

My daughter was an exchange student in France and I gave her a call about these and she blew it off too saying the same thing. They is almost always some protest/riot in Paris. Just another normal day in the life.
