He didn't lie. He inadvertently briefed with incomplete information.
"I inadvertently briefed the Vice President-elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian ambassador. I have sincerely apologized to the President and the Vice President, and they have accepted my apology," Flynn wrote according to a copy of his resignation letter obtained by CNN.

The real questions are who intercepted the phone call, why was the call intercepted, what authorization was in place to intercept it and from whom, and who leaked the information? Smells like a dirty diaper with someones doing big fat illegal stuff on the surface.

As far as comparing foreign hacking of a political party's emails to intercepting a phone call, nope, sorry, not remotely comparable, unless the US government hacked the DNC's emails.

Flynn needed to resign IMO and if he broke the law prosecute him to the fullest extent. If inappropriate leaks or security breaches occurred prosecute.
Hillary would have served her President and her party (and the public) by resigning for her server scandal and lying about it.
No matter who the POTUS is they appear to be immune from lies that may or may not be lies but changes in past policy or attempts to avoid embarrassment. Does not make it right, and the POTUS is not above the law.
Focus should not be the party, but when caught with your hand in the cookie jar do you do the honorable thing. Flynn came clean once exposed and fell on his sword for the President. Sad he lied, but it is always the lie that hangs you.
