First Gun Purchase

I don't know about anything named War Horse but I've had a couple Sig's and they're quality weapons.

I hope your temper here on the boards is a little bit feigned because otherwise you'd scare me with a gun.

That Sig is a great gun at that price. I'm in the market for a Combat model

My current obsession is a 1911 style 10 mm "long slide". I have no idea why.

I have been seriously considering buying a Colt Delta Elite. I have no need for the gun, have never shot 10 mm, but I can't get my mind off the thing. I was going to buy one about 6 months ago but opted for the M45A1 flat dark earth close quarters battle pistol.

I have bought several guns lately (for both shooting and collecting) and I just never seem to have the "timing" quite right to go ahead and grab the elite. Plus, I'm not all that enthused with the thought having to grab yet another batch of ammo...because I'm weird about not wanting to run out of ammo now with all the stupidity and so when I get a gun chambered in a round I don't have and after I have proven the gun works properly if it's an old one, I run out and buy bulk amounts of ammo for that gun just so I don't have to keep doing it later (because I'm a lazy bastard).

Got me going off on a tangent, but I dig the 1911 10 mm as well.

I'm shopping for a new full frame 1911 right now and have it narrowed down to a few options in my price range. While I would love a Wilson Combat, I'm looking at Colt Combat Elite, Dan Wesson Specialist, Kimber TLE II, or one of the Kimber Warriors.

For the 1911 aficionado, it's a world of riches.

It really is the golden era for a 1911 lover. There are just so many fantastic options.

And my current favorites for a long slide 1911 is Dan Wesson Bruin or maybe a semi-custom. Price goes from $2k to well past $3500 in a hurry.

I've read a couple reviews of the Bruin and it reviews well.

If I were in a market for a 10mm, that Bruin would be getting serious consideration

That's where I'm kinda old fashioned. I love my Colt 1911s. I know there are more "refined" options out there, but I just dig the Colts.

Would also love to have a Colt Python....but I missed that train. I don't buy anything unless I get a smoking deal. And I can't find a good deal on a Python now, just ain't happenin.

That STI looks mean. I bet it's fun to shoot.

The demand for Pythons is crazy. I remember when you could pick one up reasonably, but now. Holy smokes.

I sold a nice Python a couple years ago right before the market turned real hot. Hated to let it go because it was my Grandpa's but I wanted something to carry and wasn't strapping a pristine Python on my hip. The trigger on it was so nice. I picked up a Ruger as an alternative and it's nice. Not on the level of the Python but probably more reliable.
