Final X

Yanni is a generational talent. What does that make Duke?🤦🏼‍♂️ these up and coming wrestlers are seriously setting a new level for the future of wrestling. If/when Jax beats Vito, that would/will put him in the same stratosphere as PJ Duke
What are his realistic chances?

That Jax beats Vito?

It's 50/50 at this point. Just depends on how healthy Vito. The Vito from 2023 Worlds and 2024 NCAAs? Kills Jax.

But he requested a delay for a reason. He's not 100%. And you could likely see history repeat itself. Jax could get teched 1st match, go down big in the 2nd, come back to win both match 2 and match 3. And that's because I worry about Vito's neck/health/cardio and how that holds up.

Is there an end date for this delay when Vito either has to wrestle or withdraw?

Changed my post because I believe the information might be old after digging deeper
I was told he's good to go. Feeling good, good report from the doc, but is having to work pretty hard on his gas tank and weight. It wasn't foolproof information but it's generally pretty good.

He just did an interview with Bader. Basically said he could've wrestled at Final X if he had to. I think he'll be ready at Fargo

No issues between KD and DT that I am aware of. KD and Rocco visited Stillwater during the season as Rocco was looking around
I knew about that but something has possibly happened since then Im thinking. Again I could be wrong and I hope I am.

Just that DT has missed out on Rocco and Jayden James. Went after them hard.

But DT isn't going to burn a recruiting bridge.

Not sure that says anything about DT. PSU/Cael has the stronger reputation and is much, much closer. Hard to overcome that combo even if you're DT.

I'm saying if there's any bad blood (which there isn't) it would be because DT and co thought they had both Rocco and Jayden James at one point. But yeah, Carl be Carling.

The staff thought that…or we were likely going to.

Must be Ross?
You don't want Ross anyway. He's overrated and if he went to PSU, he'd weaken them like he would you. Better to realize that now than suffer the heartache later. Let PSU suffer through Ross. It's for the best. 😇

Consider this a good thing. I do. 👍

For those who don't appreciate satire, I love Ross.

Cael has a legendary reputation for going after recruits until the ink dries on the NLI. See Yianni. I think we can all appreciate that in our respective coaches. I would expect the same from DT.
And the NLI doesn't exist anymore so kids will be recruited until they enroll

...I wonder if it is cheaper to employ coaches than great wrestlers.....also currently do wrestlers need academic enrollment, attendance, and credit progression.........?..............maybe the NIL stands for locational eligibility rather than classroom attendance......NoInterestLearnings?

You make a fair point that in this new environment, academics has been diminished in favor of an "employer-employee" type relationship. At some point, the NCAA/universities will be sued over academic rules that inhibit an athlete's ability to earn money. It's coming.

I don't know why universities don't just spin off the athletics dept as a quasi-affiliated entity to the university and have them operate like the RTCs do.

Currently yes it's way cheaper. Many top assistants are under 150K. 150K won't even get you an AA in the portal anymore. We are gonna have an issue down the road finding coaches kids aren't gonna get 250K year in college then graduate and coach for 1/2 of that.

You still need a % towards degree following each year to remain eligible. It's 20,40,60,80 and 100

Do you think NIL deals will decrease money wise due to the new clearing house? I'm still not sure how that's going to work. From what I've read the board who is supposed to review all of the NIL deals is not very big, no idea how they'll keep up with everything in a timely manner.

NIL GO will be a mess. Not sure how they're gonna tell someone how much they're worth if someone wants to give 200k I'm now worth that. Not sure how they will keep up with all the deals. Also performance is a factor I thought this wasn't pay for play it's a mess. I don't see this system working well at all. And kids will get sick of waiting and just take the NIL money and not report it and so many will be doing it that they won't be able to do anything about it

Agree with everything you said, the whole thing sounds like a disaster. College athletics will be right back to where they were with bag men handing out cash. As much as I'd hate it, I think having a players union might be on the horizon. Player contracts and some sort of salary cap would at least keep things somewhat legit.

I can see football breaking away from the NCAA and just doing its own thing and if that happens welcome to club sports

I think there has to be an answer within 14 days?

But, that doesn’t matter…there will be back door deals getting struck either way.

We can expect guys like Bobby Nichols to file their own lawsuit against the NCAA, and I agree with him.

Who’s the NCAA to say where I spend my own money?

It' s already starting. LOL

Only a CBA is going to save this monstrosity. God the NCAA is f'ing stupid.

This train wreck is so easy to predict that even a cave man can see it. Very predictable though. The NCAA wants to desperately hold onto power that is quickly draining away. I expect that FB and possible BB will divest of the NCAA within 5 years. The NCAA has almost no power, and the Power 5 nearly all of it. It wouldn't surprise me if the Power 5 is letting the NCAA take the lead now, so that when it all fails, they can seamlessly take control.

Not only does KD and DT not have beef, I am pretty sure they have a good relationship. I know DT has done a clinic/camp at his center before and KD has spent time in Stillwater.

But if they wanted to have some beef, I would be all for it 😁KD has some big time studs (Gavin Mangano, Cam Howard) in the pipeline I'm penciling in for PSU

All kidding aside, hope you have all been well!
