How many times must I say I’m not making out that Israel is THE bad guy, I’m saying they’re BOTH bad guys, and it continually astonishes me that no one can see what Israel is doing is just as bad as what Hamas does. It’s like someone has picked a team and decided to be loyal no matter what. No Dan, that isn't my point. Hamas isn't the humanitarian organization just looking out for the poor Palestinians like you want to believe. It doesn't matter how much peace Israel or anyone wants. Getting rid of Hamas and then being vigilant to prevent its return is the only way to peace. History provides us with a bunch of examples of this approach being used successfully.

Here’s what I believe. I believe most Palestinians do not want to exercise genocide against the Jews of Israel. I think they support Hamas to the extent that to them Hamas is the only group actively resisting the apartheid state Israel has created. I believe if they had access to the revenues to the oil deposits that Israel is keeping them from developing they would no longer need to be the welfare/dependent state that Israel has intentionally made them. The relationship between Israelis and the Palestinians is not one of equals. Israel is the giant gorilla in the room to a smudge on the pavement. Israel has all the power and all the leverage, and only Israel can alter the situation. Otherwise it’s likely that the Palestinians will resist/fight to the last man standing, which by all appearance is what Israel wants.

You can’t take the Palestinian out of Hamas, all Hamas are Palestinians. But you can take the Hamas out of the Palestinians, very few Palestinians are Hamas. That’s the sticking point between your view and mine and I suppose it always will be.
