So what's the deal and what's the fix with eggs? From my little understanding, a crap ton of chickens were killed but I'm not sure if they had bird flu or if that they were just suspected of having bird flu. So all those chickens are no longer laying eggs so there's a scarcity of chickens and eggs. So is it just a time solution or is there something else?

1.) we had bird flu in 2008
2.) we had traditional vaccines for it. I took my kids to dept of health for a nasal vax.
3.) I do not recall a mass culling of birds or an increase in egg prices.

Seems there is an overreaction to this and watch Pfizer. There is NO need for an mRNA vax as trad vaxes are easy to make. IMHO the culling of healthy birds needs to stop.

Or we could go the same route as @OUSOONER67 and raise our own chickens. That’s what he says we should do with everything else we eat, grow our own, so it is safe to assume he recommends that’s what we should do about chickens and eggs.

According to Bill Gates, the bird flu is just the first of a dozen or so pandemic like diseases that will show up in the next few years. I wonder how he knows and how much he has donated to make or facilitate the spread of these diseases.

Great point! Let's go back to the early 1900's, hell, let's go back before the industrial revolution and live our lives the same way people did it for eons, scratching out an existence on the land. That may be the most intelligent proposal you've ever made! Who needs progress? Live the way people lived for eons, that's the ticket!

We get most of our eggs from a friend of ours. Several years ago I built him a couple of chicken coups for his chickens. Ever since he gives us all the eggs we can eat. We also raise a couple of steers every year down on his ranch. Nothing better than raising your own beef.

Some people make the mistake of looking down on people that choose a simpler life. They think thier fancy education, big word and thier city living make them better than those that live and work on farms. They are mistaken.

Your recommended lifestyle is great! Why work in a manufacturing plant providing appliances, autos, etc., or be in the computer industry? Those are worthless ways to live. No, it’s much better to have a little plot of land in the Arkansas back woods and live on those things you can provide for yourself. Only a putz would want to participate in the division of labor!

My buddy has 5 layin hens. I make him jerky, he provides me with a dozen eggs a week. Them eggs are better than any store bought.

And 50 acres may not be a sprawling spread like yours but its not a small plot.

Believe me, my friend, I am very happy that you’ve found a lifestyle that makes you happy. I just don’t think it’s a lifestyle for everyone, and it strikes me as absurd for you to want your lifestyle to be everyone’s lifestyle. I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings by teasing you. You are way smarter than me, maybe not any happier, but I’m glad you are happy.
