It is generally understood Ford would be on the proverbial hot seat if the buyout, and length of his contract weren't so outrageous. But my question is why give him, or any coach a lengthy contract? Let's say it was a bazarro world and Ford was a hugely successful, hot coach, and a blue blood program came calling. Let's say Ford wanted to leave. When was the last time a coach wasn't allowed to leave, and the AD stuck the contract in the air and said: "we expect him to honor the agreement?"
