Does your ID have to match the state you buy a gun in?

I still have my Oklahoma ID but want to buy a shotgun in NY. The store told me I can't and it is law. My question is this Yankee bull crap or is it that way in every state? It never occurred to me, but the guy acted like it was common knowledge. Anybody else ever been told that?

Yep, not every state but it's in most states. I can't remember how it works, but the Federal law state you can't buy a gun in a state other than your home, but I believe the Supreme Court ruled that state law supercedes federal law on this action therefore the state can rule against it.

In Colorado you can't buy a gun with an out of state license, but in Arkansas you can. Colorado is actually very conservative when it comes to gun laws, but the state supreme court ruled that the state will follow federal law.

This is largely from memory so if I'm wrong someone help me out.

Minnesota does not mind if you are from out of state purchasing a shotgun. We like people to shoot stuff?

But i think you can have a FFL help you purchase the gun.

I'm pretty sure in TX you can't buy a handgun if you're out of state but a shogun (and maybe a long gun too, I'm not sure) you can. Not sure on OK since I'm a resident.

Have a buddy buy himself a gun. Then have a buddy sale it to you.
