This is strictly an informational post. I came across this item and thought you might enjoy. It solidly supports the conjecture that it seems “everyone is moving to Texas”. They are, especially a ton of Californicators. Not the reason we left but the timing was divine.
We moved to Katy in 1990. The population was 7900 and there were 2-5A high schools. My wife taught at “The” Katy HS. When we left last year there were 8-6A high schools with approximately 3500 students each. Katy has 2-hs football stadiums sitting next to each other in the same parking lot. One holds ~10,000 & the other holds 12,000. During the season games are played at each every Thursday, Friday & Saturdays. The Katy HS has an excellent football program. My two sons that played got into 4-state championship games-winning three.
Proximity to hunting & fishing there is unmatched unless you are hunting pheasant. Proximity to crushing traffic is included. I-10 is not for amateurs or the feeble. My cop friends told me that before dark about 50% of cars had at least one gun, after dark it went up to closer to 78%. Unless you are within ~100 feet of crashing into someone, DO NOT honk your horn. This is a fighting offense.
And yes, I would rather live with tornados than hurricanes. Maybe we can discuss why later.
Enough, hope you enjoy.
