Who are you all rooting for as the nominee? As a big fan of the election season, I find the D ticket very interesting. Some are calling for Biden... you see Holder tossing his name in. What about Warren? Do you guys think any celebs jump in or do they wait?

I guess Booker or Harris could always jump in as well.

Gillibrand.

Biden is too old and is responsible for some of the worst legislation of my life (bankruptcy bill).
Holder is currently employed as a lawyer defending the banks he refused to prosecute.
Warren rubs me the wrong way for some reason, like her populism is just for show. She still probably the second best candidate available.
Booker is a pharma and wall street sellout.
Harris is a cop.

I think Obama made up for his lack of experience with his high level to communicate his ideas. I don't see the same communication piece from Holder, Warren, Booker or Harris.

Despite his age and lack of diversity, I do think Biden would resonate with people.

Booker is near Obama's level as a speaker and has more experience than Obama did in 2008.

You've probably heard him more than me... I just didn't get that same feeling from him. I'll have to look up some speeches.

Man that's where I am. I'm not as opposed to Warren, I kind of like her Oklahoma ties but she comes across as too shrill sometimes. Booker's a sellout and too shrill. Harris is synthetic and overrated.

I wanna see who all runs. Sherrod Brown is electable and smart. If I could draft someone, Adam Schiff is smart, nimble, and seems to have the balls to climb in a ring. Klobuchar may be a dark horse.

I'll take the field over anybody mentioned. Dems can get a little cray cray and hopefully we wont' have anybody else coronated. In fact, we need some new blood, and I don't wanna see anybody from congress that has only gotten the national democrat's asses whipped the last 8 years. I'm not sure anybody on that list can handle Biff in a debate the way he needs to be handled.

No disrespect, but I think Biden would be a terrible choice for the Dems.

He seems like an angry version of the former president. He could probably stir up some voters and could possibly make Trump lose his cool in a debate.

The Obama blueprint is played out. Only thing that is going to win anymore is politics. Pledge to enact popular policies in a way that voters believe. Trump replaced abstraction about immigration with "build a wall." Bernie replaced abstraction about "access" to "affordable" healthcare with medicare for all. All Booker has is abstraction.

My current all to early preferences:
  • Inslee out of Washington State - my money is on him landing Sec State in the next Administration rather than actually getting the nomination.
  • Schultz - the unTrump Trump. A smart dude, very strategic thinker.

Most likely IMO:
Sanders runs and mucks it up leaving an opening to a Harris, a Booker or a Gillibrand. In that scenario Gillibrand would be preferable.

I think he will do it "for the cause" if nothing else... well that and he will be able to convert excess campaign contributions into his own little war chest to support like minded candidates and his work on their behalf.

I would vote for Howard Schultz twice. Do you think he'll put his name in? Do you think he'd stand any chance in the primaries with the party having migrated quite left?
 
Schultz? Rich straight white male??? Am I the only one paying attention these days?

I think he makes a run with the "I don't give a damn about your feelings, the big picture matters much more than your feelings" approach. He likely would not survive the primary season, but like Inslee would be rewarded with the offer of a senior cabinet position in the next Administration - if he would accept (very unlikely). What I do know is there are those who have been his loyal lieutenants who think he will make the run - but take it with a grain of salt as that is at least third hand if not fourth hand info.

Thanks for the insight. He's one I've been kinda following as far as his interest but there's not a ton of info out there.
