Tech scored 70 points against us, so, on the surface, our defense wasn't anything special. However, we were able to get stops when we needed them, which allowed us to go from a significant deficit to a lead that Tech was unable to overcome.
Watching the game, Tech had the best ball movement of any team we have played against. Their offense is really difficult to defend against. They had guys shooting wide open 3's and a lot of dunks/layups with no one close to them. They shot 47% in the game and 43% from 3.
With that said, we seemed to get more deflections, and force more shot clock violations than in any prior game this season.
So, what does it all boil down to? Was our defense better than what it has been for most of the season? Did the coaches make some defensive changes that resulted in better success? Is this simply a function of changes to the rotation (i.e. less minutes for Dz and more for Kalib, AA, etc)?
Is our defense still pathetic, and we won despite it?
