125 Nick Piccininni vs. Spencer Lee Lee is out of redshirt and presents a different problem for Nick as opposed to his last two matches. While very strong and quick Nick will have the size advantage. He needs to rebound from his two losses and in a close match 5-4 he will garner the victory 3-0
133 Kaid brock vs. Paul Glynn Major decision or better for Brock 7-0
141 Dean Heil vs. Carter Happel Same situation for Dean as in the Pic match and Dean will rebound with a tech fall 12-0
149 Geo Martinez or Boo Lewallen vs. Brandon Sorenson. Major decision for Sorenson 12-4
157 Jonce Blaylock vs. Michael Kemmerer Fall for Kemmerer 12-10
165 Chandler Rogers vs. Alex Marinelli dec. for Rogers 15-10
174 Jacobe Smith vs. Joey Gunther dec. for Smith
184 Keegan Moore vs. Mitch Bowman dec. Moore 21-10
197 Preston Weigel vs. Cash Wilcke dec. for Weigel 24-10
285 Derek White vs. Sam Stoll dec. in close match for Stoll 24-13
The 184 match could go either way so final could be 21-16 if Bowman wins.

Should be a good one. 15K Iowa fans will be yelling stalling as soon as they get in the parking lot. Think this might be the first time in Carver for all our starters, is that correct? I'm sure our coaching staff will be firing up the guys this week. Hope we wrestle with an edge.

125: Picc dec Lee. 3-0 good guys
133: Kaid major Glynn. 7-0
141: Dean dec Happel. 10-0
149: Sorenson dec Boo/Geo. 10-3
157: Kemmerer major Jonce. 10-7
165: Marinelli dec Chandler. Tied 10-10.
174: Jacobe dec Gunther. 13-10 good guys.
184: Keegan dec Bowman. 16-10.
197: Preston dec Wilcke. 19-10.
285: Stoll dec White. 19-13 good guys.

Hope Boo/Geo, Jonce, Chandler and Derek prove me wrong. Go Pokes!

I would have to think that Pic is the underdog in that match. Lee is the real deal. It would be a really good win for Nick. I think Lee is a definite title contender.

I would agree with that. As previously mentioned, this weight is very deep with any of top 5 as legit contenders. But in Iowa, crowd charged and a freshman stud, would give advantage to lee with late td the difference.

The matchups at 125, 165, 184 and HWT are the toss ups IMO. At home I give Iowa a slight edge in three of the four as well as OSU coming off international travel.

125: Lee dec Pic. 0-3 Iowa
133: Kaid major Glynn. 4-3 OSU
141: Dean major Happel. 8-3 OSU
149: Sorenson dec Boo. 8-6 OSU
157: Kemmerer pin Jonce. 8-12 Iowa
165: Marinelli dec Chandler. Tied 8-15 Iowa
174: Jacobe dec Gunther. 11-15 Iowa
184: Keegan dec Bowman. 14-15 Iowa
197: Preston dec Wilcke. 17-15 Iowa
285: Stoll dec White. 17-18 Iowa (although this is where I think we can get an upset).

Pic can absolutely beat Lee and may do so in somewhat solid fashion using his experience and top game to control the talented freshman. Marinelli is a tough in your face high end talent and one who the home crowd will benefit but his aggressive approach could get him in big trouble against Rogers.

It's going to be a great dual.

Lee will win as will Wilcke and Bowman is a good possibility.Hawks by 6-9.

Lee might win, that is true. By what objective criteria do you think the other two will win?

Bowman's best win to date is over #54. Are you hoping that Carver will intimidate the freshman Moore? Wilke has a win against exactly one top 10 wrestler in his career.

But hey, cheer for your team, dreams do sometimes come true!:)

I've got it 20-10 good guys heading into heavyweight. Some good matches are expected. Like 2082 says, 125, 165, and 184 are pretty much tossups in my book. Lee is something special, but Picc has a lot to offer him. I think the "Bull" will get the horns in his push-push-push style. And Keegan looks better to me each time out, it seems. If White watches film of Schafer/Stall last year, he stands a very good chance to.

Plus, with Yagla and Mike Allen both retired, maybe the ref will have the 'nads to stand up to the crowd, who are already yelling for stalling, and we will only have to compete against one person per match.

Should be a fun dual!

Don't be surprised if 184 is not Bowman.

I think you have it about right. This one likely to come down to who wins 285.

Iowa is not going to allow guys (who they know will lose) to wrestle a style that allows them to get teched or majored, they will send them out there to hand fight and push and shove and work for stall calls, slow down the match as much as possible to survive with a close loss.

The other big key is who wins the coin flip. OSU has two very important matches (both odds) where will be very important to have first choice of position, and I'm betting both teams know that.

I think Marinelli is a bad style match up for Chandler and 165/285 will determine the meet result.

100$ bet Lee vs Piccinini straight up. Lee wins you donate to the HWC. Pic wins i pay to a wrestling charity of your choice. Any takers? I will post my match predictions soon. Cheers!

Picc dec Lee 3-0 OSU
Brock Mdec Glynn 7-0 OSU
Heil dec Happel 10-0 OSU
Sorensen dec Martinez/Lewallen 10-3 OSU
Kemerer Mdec Blaylock 10-7 OSU
Rogers dec Marinelli 13-7 OSU
Gunther dec Smith 13-10 OSU
Moore dec Bowman 16-10 OSU
Weigel dec Wilcke 19-10 OSU
White dec Stoll 22-10 OSU

I kinda like the match for Picc maybe I’m just being a homer for him but i think he can win that match. Not the biggest on what I’ve seen from Smith in a few of his matches and being it’s in Iowa i always see them get an upset this is the one I’m picking. White looks like an active athletic HWT and looking at him now i don’t see Stoll just pushing him around like he usually does with his opponents to get the stall calls for the win so i have White getting the win here.

Come on man... Would be good for wrestling to see Downey out there this weekend.

It seems kind of crazy no one knows if PD is actually even on the team but he could wrestle for Iowa this weekend. Feel bad for Moore. How do you even prepare? Probably just sour grapes on my part but man it stinks.

3 days and no bites.. How about 50$?

FYI, there is a poster on the Iowa board that says he will be posting both a live link and a replay link to Sunday's dual. He previously posted a replay link to their dual against MSU, so I expect he will again for our dual.

The match will be broadcast live on the big ten network on dish network channel 405 at 3 pm CDT, not sure about direct tv or cable.

I'll accept your bet if you accept mine, that work for you? So we'll end up each donating $50 to WFL or one of us will donate $100. If not, maybe we can do something for nationals.

Count me in for $50 also if you will also take the team bet, but my money is on you having no confidence that the hawks are going to win by 20+ points.

I was joking around a bit with that 30-7 prediction. I have watched enough OSU vs Iowa duals over the years that tells me it will be a close battle. Plus i don't really believe PD3 will wrestle.
Tell you what i will do. I will donate 50$ to WFL if Spencer loses. You don't have to donate anything.

Ahh, I see. So now you are betting yourself? That's very generous. And strange. But I'm sure WFL won't mind. Good luck to part of you I guess.
