You guys remember the movie A Few Good Men with Jack Nicholson playing Col. Jessup? That is who Gundy reminds me of now. Gundy is pissed he is being questioned about the service he provides and he is just dying to tell people what he really thinks.
With those thoughts in mind, if Gundy could have his Col Jessup moment, this is what he would say:
"You want me to win? You need me to win! You sit there in the stands and second-guess the play calls, criticize the game plan, and question every substitution I make. You have the luxury of watching from the sidelines, not knowing the grind, the late nights, and the sacrifices we pour into this program.
My decisions, while not always pretty, are what it takes to build a winning team. And deep down, in places you don’t talk about at tailgates, you love having a coach who’s got the guts to call the shots. So, either trust the process or grab a headset and take a shot yourself!"
