Can someone check on our board Texans? Looks like that Republican, free market power grid is acting up again.

I don’t have any desire to engage in fisticuffs with anyone on here JV lol…it’s a product of your inability to manage anger that drives you to saying things like “I’d love to pimp slap the **** out of toon”.

But on the happenstance I’m walking through life and you come upon me and attempt to pimp slap me, I would defend myself. That would be my legal right to do so in a stand-your-ground state.
Angry who is angry. Pimp slap is a staple at my house just like Big Dick Energy. I wouldn't be here if it made me angry what type of entertainment would that be? See I like oddities in life but you just suck. You need to train under Pilt. Come back with something better.

If by “free” you mean “subsidized” then, sure.
If the free market is rendered helpless by tax credits, imagine what something like asymmetric information or unmarketable risk or unpriced externalities.

Or god forbid what if the unreliable source of energy was slightly cheaper than the reliable source energy in an unsubsidized world. Would the results be any different?

How would we know?

Yawn….

Thanks for posting, proves we should not rely on renewables in times of emergency. Which means it's nothing more than a luxury.

Wind and solar are the problem with our grid. Government money makes wind and solar substantially more attractive for the balance sheet but absolutely sucks in times of an emergency.
***Lives in Texas, depends on wind/solar as a part of the grid, bitches and moans emptily yet again***

It makes sense from the standpoint it is safe, reliable and cost effective. Even from an environmental standpoint it's on the same or better level as wind and solar when considering production, land usage and the impact on wildlife.

I'm not a fan of wind or solar energy with the technology that is available today. They both leave a huge footprint on land and have a huge negative impact on wildlife. Not to mention the production process creates more pollution that oil and gas.

Remember we can only talk about the negatives of oil and gas and the positives of unreliables, I mean renewables.

C'mon man
Have you seen the impact windfarms are making on wildlife? I have seen it firsthand and I'm not a fan. How many acres of land do these windfarms take up? When you drive down I-35 they stretch as far as the eye can see. Same out on in West Texas.

And the lollipops from oil and gas drilling are given to homeless shelters, but windmills and solar energy throw coal out all over the environment.

This thread is a perfect example of why a free market system is the way to go. Each one of you has a preferred means of acquiring your needs. A free market would allow each of you to purchase the energy output from the source you desire, leaving others to get their energy output from the places they desire. It's really kind of silly if you pay attention to what this thread has devolved into, as each person insists the others are dead wrong about their choices, and they should be forced by government intervention to get their energy from your personal preference. Don't you see how ridiculous you are being?

Feigning outrage from your usual moral pedestal raining showers of condescension upon us all…

Dan’s the man.

I think the point is that their "free market" libertarian utility regime has proven to be a train wreck while the rest of the country doesn't share their problems.

I would love to pimp slap the **** out of Toon but I just found Yellowstone and my whole world has been opened up. Fellows happiness is North and man I never knew the potential money laundering a ranch could have. It would be like being the POTUSSR.

See us Red blooded Americans don't hire political people so we can rape children like the liberals no no no we want to ****ing ranch and ranch hard.
Haha, they never show that place in the winter!

How so? What is the train wreck and problems?

Someone is saying Texas has a free market libertarian utility regime? Who made that point? And even if they are correct if there was a truly free market they could rid themselves of the danger by not participating in the train wreck, and mocking those fools that did.

Oh man, you should've been around during this cold snap last year -- lots of people lost their electricity in Texas, and although the state government has been in republican hands for at least a generation, it was the dem' s fault!

Yes, my power was out much of two days in Dallas (much better than my folks in OK who had about 10 days of outages last winter). Not sure what politics had to do with it one way or the other.

But, still, what are the problems you reference that don't happen elsewhere?

One turbine takes up less land than your house. Have you seen a multi well pad?

I love Yellowstone during the winter. Take snowmobiles into the West entrance of the park take right to go see Old Faithful or take a left to go up to Mammoth springs. Some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen.

They are an ugly site. Last fall all of them in NW Oklahoma that interfered with certain bird migrations had to be shut down.

The electrical system failed because it got cold.

Not too many years ago, you could take your own snowmobile up there. It was pretty cool. We parked the trucks and trailers at Flagg Ranch (south entrance), went by Old Faithful, zipped over to West Yellowstone to spend the night and then came back the next day. West Yellowstone is a very snowmobile-friendly town. Ride your sled to a bar or restaurant and then back to the motel. Or that’s the way it used to be, anyway.

We stay in Big Sky, ski for two or three days, take a break mid trip to go snowmobiling through Yellowstone and then back to ski for a few more days. Looking to go back in the next couple of years to take my grandson.

Never been into Big Sky, only by it on the highway. Seems isolated, but as popular as the place is, I’m guessing everything you need is on site. Jackson is very expensive, but what great restaurant options. We don’t miss living there, and navigating that town in the summer is such a PITA. But the beauty of the landscape just can’t be beat.

As someone who seems interested in Texas' power grid, I figured you'd like to see this report. How is it that the Fossil energy loving Republicans have implemented 3X more Green energy production than Dem-Loving, Green California? While Libs talk Green Energy, Republicans actually deliver. Oh, and the article is from an NBC outlet, so should be on your acceptable sourcing list.

Feb., '21 saw record cold across Texas. I believe it was early 2020, some NASA scientists told me we're in a solar minimum. YouTube took the videos down. I assume the videos didn't look well for the Warmist's narrative. We've had a bunch of record cold and snowfall since.
