California: Next Stop, Venezuela

10 years ago, China unveiled its 'Social Credit Score'. Where basic necessities for life could be denied you if the government felt you were posting stuff on social media that they didn't approve of.

Sane people were horrified, the left told us calm down, that's not coming here.

This year, the UK started arresting people who the government felt were posting stuff on social media that they didn't approve of. The UK said they will start extraditing people from the US if they post stuff about the UK government that the UK government didn't approve of.

What could possibly go wrong with government control of energy.

I doubt that California could simply take the energy production with out paying a fair market price for them like Venezuela did. Honestly I think most of the owners would happily sell the refineries and electricity generation plants to the state since despite the energy and fuel costs, they aren’t very profitable.

What would happen is that the state wouldn’t run them properly but would hide the losses via taxation on everyone.
