Well first the site is not all Caitlin Johnstone…I assumed you knew that. And second Caitlin described herself as socialist. And just released an article titled “Capitalism is a Scam”.

A couple of things. First I agree with writing with which I agree and do not concern myself if the person with whom I agree on one topic disagrees with me on another. For example when @davidallen was alive I vehemently disagreed and argued with him over his left-leaning pro-Democrat Party politics. But he and I were 100% simpatico when it came to rooting for OSU football and hating on the Sooners. It would have been quite the dilemma if I insisted he be in agreement with me across every board. The same applies with Ms. Johnstone and me. I am a hard nosed free market advocate but I find her writing about the “American Empire” to be compelling and find next to nothing with which to disagree with her about that. Second, within the ideology of libertarianism there is a small contingent of what I call “spontaneous socialists,” people who believe there can form groups that are socialist in nature, voluntary socialists, if you will, but unlike the traditional feature of socialism do not call for government to mandate it for all. I believe Ms. Johnstone falls into that category, so when she criticizes or bashes capitalism it is done via a philosophical conviction that people err when they adhere to it, but does not intend for government to be used to banish it. You be a capitalist and she’ll be a socialist and you can both live side by side because neither of you are trying to use the police power of the state to demolish the other. That being said I disagree with her assumption that human nature allows for large groups to be socialist, but I also know I have no political reason to fear her. And to top it all off when it comes to an analysis of government she connects with me in ways no one else approaches.
