and honestly, that is okay. Can't sacrifice the long term for the short term. Know when to walk away with the loss but still have your integrity. Other kids and parents will notice that.
Are you 100% on this Jax thing? Or just posting hoping you're right and can say told you so? Because I don't believe Jax has made his decision yet. He definitely hasn't notified any coaches thats for sure. But maybe you know the family 🤷
Pat tweeted then deleted yesterday that Jax was rumored to be down to OSU and Iowa.
The article reflected he was going to announce tomorrow. It is down to four programs and we are one of them. The total package was $5 million with a corporate entity being part of the NIL, so not all out of one college. Bo commented that the $5 million was not accurate.
Look, it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure this out.
Iowa is in panic-mode after the curbstomping they got at PSU. It showed them, really, how far they are away from competing for a title and their money men didn't help them much.

I don't have a problem with Pat. But not sure why everyone believes everything he says when he's been known to just delete things that aren't true. The wrestling world should start dividing any $ Pat puts out regarding Iowa in at least 1/2

Iowa is still is the big draw on TV and in ticket sales. Iowa almost doubles Penn St. ticket sales.

I'm not a fan of everything Iowa does but the way they support the sport is awesome

Home crowd support doesn't equal biggest brand. I think Iowa absolutely kills it with supporting their team. That is a different conversation though. Penn State IS college wrestling right now.

You really believe that? Sure, Iowa has a brand, but each year it tarnishes even more. I would even say that in a couple years, OSU may overtake Iowa in branding. PSU is currently the biggest brand in college wrestling, and I'd say that even if I wasn't a fan of the team. Society has become a "what have you done for me lately" crowd. Guys my age (61) remember the heydey of Iowa wrestling where beating a Hawkeye in the semis was a notable feat. Oberebo, 45 years my senior, can remember when the same could be said about OSU. Someday PSU will fall and someone else will be the biggest brand in college wrestling.

he looks a lot younger than he really is. I like Oberebo and so hope this brings a smile to his face. I wish I had personal knowledge of wrestling starting in the 50s/60s. He is an encyclopedia and has my utmost respect.
He has done both in the past. Bo’s interview on Flo scoffed at the amounts and he also indicated the NIL offers were comparable. So in this particular case it would seem Mineo was just wrong, that there were no record breaking NIL offers.
He has leaked commits early in the past stealing a kids moment as well.
I don't believe Pat or Bo. One is underselling the NIL offer and the other is overselling.
But only one of them knows. Mineo has simply been wrong so many times you just can’t believe him. Bo could be underselling. I don’t have any inside info.
I don't believe Mineo on anything. We are in agreement. I just don't believe PSU/OSU needs to get into a d!ck measuring contest with Iowa. If quality of coaching and RTC doesn't win the day, then he wasn't the right fit. Sad to say that sometimes kids go for the shiny object rather than what is important long term. The long term aspect wins the conversation 90% of the time but that isn't 100%. I know both DT and Cael believe this philosophy.
Based on what I have seen and heard, it seems like he is coming to Stillwater. I think the idea of being involved in putting OSU back on top and knocking off PSU is a draw for him. Additionally, I saw a video where he listed guys at Penn State that makes there room the best in the world.. Gilman, Jimmy Kennedy, RBY were the names mentioned.. They are all in Stillwater now. He mentioned that the NIL money was almost identical among the final four.. He mentioned wanting to start the process of pursuing international goals at 65kg.. Isnt that where Zane is at? I dont think Iowa based on a video I saw of Tom Brands helping some guys at a 7am workout.. I think perhaps Iowa is in a position that they find themselves having difficulty getting guys to progress levels.
Money is not the same. I think it was OSU until the Penn State/Iowa massacre.
Now, all bets are off…or at much higher stakes.
We all measure it differently I guess. Viewership, tickets sold, the way they travel on the road and the support they get makes me feel that way. They've won 1 title in 15 years I believe and still have all that going on.
