Alright....next up Big 12. I hate to say it but really SHOULD not be much of a team race but individual finishes will have a lot to do with NCAA seeds......will Jo be back healthy? Eddie needs a win to secure that 5 seed imo....GWH of course has Brewer and after last match can't see him winning it but a win against Hall will help his seed. ...Heil should be good even though Meredith is pretty tough. Of course D-ring is fine. I will let someone else fill in the other weights....just trying to get the ball rolling!

My thoughts we should have the #1 seed in all weights except the following
133 Brewer of OU, Harding should be second
157 Cody Pack, South Dakota State and Smith seeded 2nd
184 Hayden Zilmer, North Dakota State with Boyd seeded 2nd
197 I think there are four or five guys that would be seeded higher that either Marsden or Weigel.

I would imagine I have missed a few quality wrestlers in the Big 12 that might be ranked higher than us, but thought I would take a stab at it. Smith and Pack should be a great match as well as Zilmer and Boyd.

I wonder when the seeding will be revealed?
125 - Will Eddie be seeded 1 or 2? I see that Moisey dislocated an elbow, so we won't be seeing another incredible run from him. I think Eddie wins it.
133 - This weight is Brewer's to lose. I think GWH takes Hall if they get a rematch. I just hope GWH is not on Brewer's side of the bracket.
141 - Heil, all the way.
149 - Collica should win this weight.
157 - Joe will win if he is 90% or more. He really needed the experience of those late duals that he missed.
165 - Don't know who I would pick here. To finish second, that is.
174 - I think Chandler can win this weight. Does Crutchmer go if he is 90% or more? Or if they think he will be 90% by March 17th?
184 - Nolan can definitely win this weight.
197 - I just hope our guy can pull an upset and get one of the qualifier spots.
285 - Marsden should win, unless he tries to play t too close.

I have given my personal (outrageous) seeds to the tournament and already came up with a prediction per weight through the top 5. Obviously the powers that be will have the seeds most likely different than I so some matchups might be different, and I will give updates on my predictions when that time comes.
For those of you who actually care about this kind of stuff and what I have to say, not many I'm guessing, the game of predicting..........

In order of 1st to 5th done on Feb 1st
125: Klimara, Millhof, Moisey, Templeman, Tolbert
133: Brewer, Hall, Harding, Martinez, Rauser
141: Heil, Meredith, Bengston, Boston, DeAngelo
149: Collica, Jeffries, Kocer, Breckenridge, Ream
157: Smith, Pack, Cottrell, Colgan, Deluca
165: Dieringer, Weatherman, Zilverberg, Glass, Torres
174: Rogers, Reed, Weatherspoon, Kocer, Stroh
184: Zilmer, Boyd, Reyes, Scheffel, Ayers
197: Rotert, Smith, Noon, Marsden, Hines
285: Marsden, Larson, Harms, Smith, Vizcarrondo

How would you think Harding would get the 2 seed? Head to head results and coaches panel ranking put him no higher that 4th and likely no lower than 5th. He'll be on Brewer's side of the bracket.

1. Brewer (Beat everybody except for the loss to Brock)
2. Hall (Only loss to Brewer, win over Harding, higher coaches panel rank than Martinez)
3. Martinez (hasn't wrestled any of the top guys other than a loss to Brock, but has a win over Simms, lower coaches panel ranking than Hall)

4 and 5 will probably be Rauser and Harding. Probably Harding 4 and Rauser 5 but it depends on how much they stress Big XII record vs. overall record and Coaches Panel ranking in the seeding. Since there wasn't a lot of cross pollination between teams this season I bet that Big XII record isn't high up on the seeding criteria.

its mine understanding that the last head to head determines seeds so if that's right EK will be 2. Not that I feel it matters too much even if Moisey is back.

I missed big on 133. Forgot about the loss to Hall as it was close. You are probably right about Martinez as well. Should not try to do that from memory, because that was pretty far from right.

I don't think it is impossible for Harding to get the 3 seed over Martinez, but I think Martinez is much more likely to get it. I think two things are working in Martinez's favor. The first is the coaches panel ranking. Martinez was higher than Harding in the last panel and I don't think anything happened that would make that switch. Second is their only common Big XII opponent is Brance Simms from SDSU. Martinez beat Simms by fall and Harding lost to Simms 5-7 in sudden victory.

I'm not totally convinced the Big XII is going to get 4 allocations at 133 so that might end up being a big deal. I could see as low as three or as high as five. Brewer, Hall, and Martinez should be locks for an allocation but Harding is a question mark and Rauser is borderline. Harding hit the 17 match minimum after the last RPI release so I'm not sure where he'll be on that. If his RPI is high he should be good since his coaches panel ranking is well within the margin. But if his RPI is low he's out and he has an 8-9 D-1 record so a high RPI isn't a sure thing. Rauser only has 16 D-1 matches so he isn't eligible for an RPI. His last coaches panel ranking was 29th and his D-1 win percentage is .6875. Some years that's good enough for an allocation, some years that isn't

I thought I read earlier this year that we do not get any automatic qualifiers this year. I am sure our resident experts can either refute or confirm this but I did read that somewhere in the fall. Hopefully that is incorrect but with the realignment it would make sense.

That was last year when the big 12 only had 4 teams, the whole purpose of combining with the WWC was to once again have automatic allocations.

And we know basically nothing about the format.

8-man bracket plus 2 pigtails?
Pigtails scored or non-scored?
Random draw for pigtail lines?
Seed to 6?
Scoring 6 places?

Sample brackets are availabe here: http://www.big12sports.com/fls/10410/pdfs/wrestling/2016-bracket.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=10410. Looks like they are scoring 6 places and seeding all 10.

No way they seed all 10. It's impossible and/or pointless, given that there's a lack of head-to-head for several teams. If they're dead set on the bracket setting up that way, they should seed 1-6 and draw the last 4 guys in. 7-10 are going to be essentially interchangeable anyway.

Brackets show that they will seed all 10. Not sure if that will happen or not. Intermat has six 125 pound wrestlers ranked in the top 20. I look for OSU to put 8 in the finals and believe all will win. The team battle will be for 2nd.

Nope, MrGrapple, you're wrong.

OU will claim all ten titles, winning the conference in what will be the greatest single conference tournament victory ever!

Having said that, even if OU wins all 10 weights, Alex Dieringer will still be automatically crowned champ at 165. It's the only right thing to do.

Pre seed rosters were already submitted. Can't remember what I was told they had to be back by.
Have always wanted to be a fly on the wall at seeding meetings. They apparently agreed before the season on how they would seed. The question is will that get followed. A example would be Pat Downey from ISU. No matches, should be behind everyone else.

Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for him to be the #10 seed. But he's got one data point that might put him a little higher up - he beat Krumweide from UNI who beat Paxton from NDSU. But being 10th and getting Rotert in the 2-7 match is probably preferable to being 8 or 9 and getting Smith in the 1-8 match so I kind of hope they give him the 10 seed. Just looked at that empty bracket cachap posted - the loser of the 1/8 and 2/7 matches go down to pigtails against the losers of the 7/10 and 8/9 matches. So somebody in the pigtails could have up to six matches if they place in the top 6 (pigtail, quarterfinals, consolation pigtail, 1st round consolations, consolation semifinals, 3rd or 5th place match). That'd be a long weekend.

Couple questions:

1.) Anyone know if Flo will let you buy a single event or do you have to subscribe to the whole service?

2.) Are there any weights are guys have to get the auto bid to make it? I suspect 197 would really be the only one but I haven't followed qualifying much.

You can buy one month of flo. Everyone earned an allocation so I feel pretty good that if anyone didn't get an auto bid they would receive an at-large.

AT just bite the bullet and get the year long annual pay discount. You'll be glad you did.

With OSU now partnering with FLO and so many ex-OSU stars wrestling internationally you don't even has to be a huge wrestling fan to find yourself watching most of the OSU duals and a few matches a month of the ex-OSU guys.

Id say it is worth the cost.

Does FLO carry a good amount of away matches? I make a decent amount of home matches.

They seem to have other matches in a delayed manner. I found the Nolf -Martinez match that was on B1G network. They also had several tournaments- southern scuffle, midlands, Vegas, and others.

I think you guys have me talked into it. You should get a commission from Flo.

Weigel listed as 197 wrestler. Harding needs to upset someone to make it to NYC. I think he will because he has been wrestling much better the last half of season.

Man, I'm glad I reupped over there!

I've watched the series on OSU, brands, Kolait, Dake and Minnesota. They were great TV, and the live Wrestling is a huge bonus!
