I made my first batch of home brew a couple years back and haven't done one since. I was thinking about it again and I begin to weigh it in my mind. So what are the benefits of home brew? Other than the sataifaction/enjoyment of it, I didn't see any price benefit, quality benefit, etc. Not knocking the home brew thing, it was kind of cool, but having two kids and limited time, I'm really leaning toward continuing to buy beer as needed.

It's mostly about the enjoyment of it. But if you aren't making it good enough to see a quality benefit you should keep working.

It's like smoking. You make what you want, how you want, when you want. You enjoy the process and the fruits of your labor.

I have a friend who does it a lot. They make a day of it. Cookout and brew the beer. He could make a very good Dubbel Bret. If you do a big enough batch it can save money. Hell 4 bottles now are around 12 dollars.
